Ive had a problem with the throttle body for some time now (well i think thats the problem) and i eventually took it off and cleaned it. Now when i put it all back on and reversed the car off the drive i found a small gasket  since finding this the car has been lumpy and creating funny...
erm.. i took the whole thing off to clean it and im certain that everything has been put back on properly, maybe its just another problem. I will just let it run probably tomorrow when i have time and hope it sorts itself out
Thanks alot mate, much appreciated.
Made a thread not so long ago about my revs sticking. Cut a long story short i found out that it was the throttle body that needed cleaning. Ive had some time on my hands today and cleaned it, however i did read something about it needing resetting into place.
Can someone please tell me how to...
Just wondering if anyone has changed their alternator belt themselves before, Mines got a slight squeek and its annoying me more and more, so ive just looked on ebay and you can pick one up for £8. Just need to know how to fit it it now??
Any ideas??
Cheers Tim
Do you know whether it has had an aftermarket stereo in it in the past? i say this because it may simply be that the stereo cable is not connected properly.
i have a 1.6 and havnt had any problems with it so far and its got 145,000 on it. It also has no sign of the headgasket going. If I was you I would go for it mate. As you say the worst it could be is the head needs skimming.
yes it is mate, now is it the thick pipe to the right of it cus thats all i have cleaned and to be honest there wasn't much dirt inside it. Or do i clean inside the throttle housing where the butterfly valve is. Cheers Tim.
I presumed that it was the metal part which the air intake pipe connects to. I have cleaned that pipe out but still no difference. This is the picture without the cover on. I appreciate your help guys.
i undersand that part mate, just finding it hard to find which hose it is, when i look into the engine bay there is numerous amounts of hoses. I cleaned the hose out today which goes from the air filter as i thought this was the right one. Turns out it isnt :( Just need a bit more detail to...
just to let people no i have sorted it now and if any one needs to know how to do it then
Turn on radio. The radio display shows "SAFE".
Press the P.Scan and RBDS buttons simultaneously and hold until "1000" shows on the display. Release the buttons. Do NOT press these buttons again...
Just been listening to the radio when cleaning my car and the battery went dead (silly mistake) When i charged the battery the stereo now says SAFE. I have the code but there doesnt seem to be any way to type it in, non of the buttons do anything when pressed....HELP PLEASE!
same on my a3 mate. Put it into garage and it was bushes. The guy said it had to have the clamps done as well. Not to sure what that means but hope this is useful.
