    Two fingers for my efforts!

Barry Norman used to say that during his film reviews. Sorry for any confusion.

    And why not?

    mapping software

Sadly, the going rate seems to be in the hundreds. There are cards on sale on eBay, but others in this forum have found that they can't be activated unless they pay a hefty fee to the dealers. Lots on here take the Tomtom route (other satnavs are available; I use Garmin software on my smartphone...

    mapping software

Firstly, welcome to the forums. The SD satnav can be updated, but it requires the purchase of a new card from the dealers, and activation by service technicians. It's not a cheap update, but it seems to be the only way of getting it done. This is because the card is coded to the car, via the...

Facelift Gear change indicator 'N'. And other questions

Pop it in neutral, lift off the clutch and the stop/start will operate. I'm not sure that there is an option to get the parking display to fill the whole screen. Don't know which network is used, but Cubic Telecom provide the service so might be worth asking them. Not tried it abroad yet (where...

Can you still use your own SIM with Connect?

Kuku, I understand the 10Gb is a total allowance, rather than a monthly allowance. Probably enough for a bit of email and Facebook, but nowhere near enough for any streaming. I do use it, when I'm on holiday so my wife can use her tablet in the car. But I've only ever bought the 7 day plan. It's...

Can you still use your own SIM with Connect?

You can add your own SIM, but all the "free" Connect data which used to go through the built-in SIM will now go through your added SIM. There is a way of getting a subscription to enable you to use the hotspot facility, but it's rather expensive. It's provided through a company called Data...

    Facelift Virtual Cockpit Consumption Display

GSB, cracking reply. I've always wanted to know how it works, but all the technical info. I've found on the web was a bit too deep. This is a great explanation, and one I have (at last) been able to grasp. As cyclists would say "Chapeau, sir"

    Facelift Virtual Cockpit Consumption Display

Energy recuperation, as I understand it. I think it converts potential energy available during deceleration to electricity and uses it to top up the charge in the battery. Not sure how the technology works but someone will be along soon to explain (I hope).

    Google Maps

Just been out to check mine. Google earth working and clock showing correct time from the start. Maybe time for an MMI reset?

    Trev's a big fan

When I was looking at the A3 as a company car, I had a three-day test drive. Fleet manager liked to make sure that the choice you made was one you would be happy with for the three year lease period. Does sound like Trev used the 'stick a pin in a list' method.

    Facelift Wi-Fi Hotspot

You might be able to activate the on-board hotspot, but it needs a data subscription through Data Inside. Benefit is that you can have the "free" data that you get with Connect, whereas with a second SIM all the data goes through the second SIM, and the car can get through a lot of data...

Q3 Looking at the Q2, any advice?

No problem. I've put some pictures in the picture sticky if you want to see Ara blue on the car.

Q3 Looking at the Q2, any advice?

Bought a Q2 1.4tfsi COD Sport in January to replace an A3 2.0tdi SE Both in manual. Both have the same power (150 ps) but I think the diesel had a bit more torque. Interior comfort is just like an A3, which is hardly surprising given the platform. I'm really happy with the ride and the way it...

Availability of 2017 maps in MyAudi?

Good result for you on the compatibility front. As you mention an intermittent problem might be worth pestering Audi about it. I think the cost of a compatible phone outweighs the convenience for me, so no emails on the go. Not sure whether to be disappointed or not.

Availability of 2017 maps in MyAudi?

No problem. I went through the same routine when my phone didn't seem to play nicely with the car. Hope you get a solution. Sadly, mine seems to be to get a new phone, or don't get SMS/Email on the go.

Availability of 2017 maps in MyAudi?

I think the problem is with the phone, not the car. Not all Bluetooth stacks support all the possible functions. The Audi compatibility website shows phones which have been tested with the Connect service. There are four filters which can be applied. This morning there are 195 phones listed as...

    Facelift In Car WiFi?

The Wifi setting is under the telephone tab if I remember correctly, or if not try connection manager > Wifi. This should display the SSID and has a second line where it will show the key.

    Facelift In Car WiFi?

Pastey, " If you were thinking of making a purchase you would actually be much better going for one of these: Lasts 2 years (24GB) for £60 less than the 10GB on using Data Inside..." You can get those SIMs much cheaper at 7dayshop. £25 at the moment. Still not impressed with paying twice...
