My engine A3 1.8 (non-turbo) has died. Timing belt went and has wrecked it. Have pumped a lot of money into this little motor - it is almost a full S3 replica at this stage. My question is how difficult would it be to replace engine with a 1.8T? Ideally thinking of trying to find a cheap 1.8T...

Hi <tuffty/>, one error was that the mass air flow sensor signal was too low and another was an issue problem with O2 sensor (can't remember exactly). Sorry can't give more details. Mechanic said no more errors were given after replacing - didn't actually see this myself but trust him.

Hi S3JACKSON, many thanks for this info. I see there has been a few recalls on A3/S3 8L - something I wasn't aware of. Can I just make a note of these and get Audi to check/fix them free of charge? Or would they have done this automatically when it was in at some stage previously?

Bought some facelift headlights for my A3. Friend did the installation. Two things: - The lights didn't come with the back cover panels (that you unclip to access the bulbs). I had thought the ones from the pre-facelift lights would fit but they do not. Can these be ordered from Audi? Or...

Many thanks for you time with this S3_NDJ. He said the plastic bit has broken off and is inside the headlight. I'm guessing it would be easy enough to open the lights up, get the piece out and glue it back on with PlasticWeld or something?
