Rad it was Jazz. put it up on ramps, had the sump cover off and it was obvious.
in the far left corner and some fluid had crystalised.
flushed the system, put some new coolant in with rad weld and fine after 50 mile trip. fingers crossed it holds up til i get back from the states...
right. checked the head and its a C code so that is good news.

got a flyer from audi saying cambelt due at 75k or 5 years old.
car is a Jan 06 so near to 5 years but have been told that normally its 80k miles.

I tried what you said and bingo it seems to have sorted the problem. I took the plastic panel off (even managed to not break anything too!!) and then had a look around.
washer pipe to wiper motor had indeed come off a little and it was very wet in there.

what exactly did you have to replace? was it the whole mechanism or just the sensor?
I am going ot dry it all out and get some WD40 in there tomorrow to see if that clears it.

was being a lazy forum whore. done a search and looks like lots of folks have had same issues.
saved me loads not buying a new battery or going to audi for an *** raping on the VAG.
