I had an issue like this for 3 months with my 2014 A7. After going in and out of Audi and few times they finally said the battery was poor and replaced it for me yesterday. I don't have the car back yet but am told it is now working fine so 5.5 years would seem about right for a battery change.

Thanks Theophany. I plan to get a warranty with either car and the warranty is only about £100 more expensive for the RS. It sounds like the service cost difference isn't too bad. It's just the brakes on the RS that are the killer. If I can find one with new discs then that should help!
