    Still occasional limp mode

I'm looking at getting another ECU from eBay to take the MAP sensor out of. Would the MAP from an ECU for an AHH engine work in my AFN? The part numbers are the same except mine has FL at the end compared to just F on the eBay one.

Hi PaulF thank you for your reply, sorry I have only just seen it, I have mr muscled it twice without any noticeable effects. Cheers

    Still occasional limp mode

Just a quick update to this, my fault code has now changed to: 00519 - Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor (G71) 28-00 Short to Plus. Is this the MAP sensor? And is it possible to get these changed on the 97 AFN engine when they are inside the ECU? Thanks

    Avant Tailgate Removal

My Avant has a had a shunt up the rear and now needs a rear bumper and tailgate. Its a 1997 1.9tdi quattro. Do we have a guide on here explaining how to remove the tailgate and all the gubbins inside? I've done a quick search but not come up with anything. Is it a fairly straightforward job...

I haven't. Would that cause limp mode too?

    Still occasional limp mode

I'm still getting limp mode but it seems to be randomly, I can't always replicate it. Can anybody think of anything else I can check. I've replaced all the vacuum lines, including the one in the ecu, cleaned the vnt with mr muscle (twice) and checked all hoses for splits. The fault code...

Can anybody make sense of this for me?!

I think i've realised my mistake. I recently replaced the vac lines with 3mm silicon ones but the boost gauge came with its own tubing which is a thicker diameter. Presumably the vacuum found it easier to go up this pipe to the boost gauge and not carry on to the MAP sensor? Thanks for your...

Can anybody make sense of this for me?!

That's how I interpreted it too. After a quick blast this morning before work the actual MAP just about matches the specified so im not sure where the gauge was getting 26 psi from? It was the cheapest one on eBay so it could just be naff. Would putting it between the N75 and the turbo...

Can anybody make sense of this for me?!

Solved it! I had a boost gauge connected to the pipe that runs to the MAP sensor inside the ECU. The boost gauge was showing 26psi but the MAP sensor was only reading atmospheric pressure and not correcting the boost levels. I took the boost gauge out and fitted a new pipe and hey presto, no...

Can anybody make sense of this for me?!

1997 A4 1.9 TDi AFN Quattro: Car runs great and has normal power until 70-80mph then hits limp mode. I've cleaned out the turbo so no sticking VNT, swapped N75 and replaced all vacuum hoses and blanked off EGR. After it hits limp mode I get '000575 Intake Manifold Pressure - 17-10- Control...

    Recoding central locking

1997 A4 Avant Quattro 1.9 TDi Using VCDS Lite I'm trying to recode my central locking so the indicators flash when locking and unlocking my car but I can't seem to get it to work! I would like an audible confirmation too if possible. The current value is 13162. All 4 doors open with 1...

    No power

Hi murran, I dont have the code number, unfortunately i dont have vagcom. I got it read by a mechanic friend a while back. Did you mean VNT? if so the vacuum pipe from the N75 has enough suction to hold itself on my finger. I tried driving with this pipe off and there was no difference at all...

    No power

Just another question, should there be oil in the intercooler pipes? quite alot of it?

    No power

Right, I've done the oven cleaner in the turbo properly now and it is slightly better but still not right. I've changed the pipe that runs into the ecu, and the 3" pipe inside it. Its still down on power though and occasionally idles roughly, its also a slow starter. Theres no noticeable smoke...

Thanks for the replys chaps. I've blanked the EGR already but its still the same. I've also tried cleaning the turbo with the oven cleaner but im not sure i got enough in, (can was nearly empty) I'll be trying this again at the weekend hopefully. Cheers
