Help - Replacement Front Drop Links for Car lowered with Coilovers

Coilovers strike again ! I have (I think) FK coilovers which have different front drop links to OEM. My car has failed its MOT due to failure of these - the garage can't source replacements as they don't have a part number or equivalent and their suppliers can't match them by length. Has...

Cambelt Change & Sensor Code Fault - Advice Required

Thanks guys, the garage has apologised and showed me their reference book for setting the S3 timing - I have no doubt they tried to get it all lined up but got caught out. Fortunately its booked back in for next week so all should be fine and they have taken advice from a local Audi specialist...

Cambelt Change & Sensor Code Fault - Advice Required

Just after some advice really ... Took my 2003 8L S3 to a non-VAG specialist (no told you so comments please) to have the leaking water pump replaced along with a timing belt for good measure. The car also required the MOT and various others things so it made sense to have it all done at my...

    Nurburgring - in an S3?

And you have just got to ask yourself why would any UK car driver go all the way to the Nurburgring simply to drive around a 'public toll road' as it isn't exactly an alpine pass or the amalphi coast ... They wouldn't, and so insurance companies are no longer leaving themselves open to ambiguity...

    Nurburgring - in an S3?

I echo what's been said about the Nurburgring ...10 - 15 years ago, you could have a blast ... the track was often clear so you could get a fast lap, filming was allowed, there was no ANPR and insurance and breakdown was easier to organise albeit still slightly ambiguous ... Now it is far too...

Using a manual boost controller to cap boost spike

Done this to mine to retain the N75 and reduce boost spiking, works a treat :-)

people who merge onto motorways and duel carriageways to slow

IMHO - vehicles on the dual carriageway should also be aware of vehicles joining (well any junctions or intersections really), but yes if drivers think of themselves as individuals (selfishly) rather than as part of a bigger system then their actions can impact on others ... this also...

Audi S3 door blade trim coming off!

My driver side door blade finally gave up the ghost yesterday. Fortunatley the plastic bracket and screws were OK. On inspection the metal insert seems to rust inside the rubber moulding causing expansion and distortion of the rubber which releases the plastic bracket and then results in the...

    Nice Surprise (full closure alarm)

Well I was just playing about at the weekend on the card and thought I'd see if the sunroof would close automatically. Previous full closure alarms I have used would close the windows and roof automatically when setting the alarm or locking the doors so I assumed my S3 didn't have it ... Anyway...

Does Quattro reduce 'final power to wheels'?

If it is engaged there will be some reduction from flywheel horsepower down to wheel horsepower but don't forget you get transmission losses through the gearbox and diffs etc. so even in FWD mode you will always get a difference between flywheel and wheel horsepower anyway ...Martin

To 'Ring, or not to 'Ring ?!?

Forgot to say ... Something not everyone knows about are the turn in and apex dots for the driving schools (probably still there) ... Once you can see and read these you can really accelerate your learning of the track and 'hook up' your laps - don't try and do this to begin with as whilst you...

To 'Ring, or not to 'Ring ?!?

The Nurburgring is astonishing ! Not been since 2005 (used to go a lot before then) but believe a lot has changed in terms of how busy it is, insurance checks etc. If you go, go with your eyes WIDE open ... You can have a great time driving around a few sighting laps, even at moderate speeds as...
