It all just reaks of scene and will defo be looks over function with all that added weight going on and the rediculous rear wing adding to the drag as well its not like the mk4 is built to be aerodynamic with its brick like shape.
Not to mention the speed required to actually make it functional...
That picture of your valves Alex had they been cleaned and then had the wmi fitted and that was the build up upon inspection? or was the wmi fitted with already dirty valves.
Im eagerly awaiting pictures of your valves since the new cam cover has been fitted with the rear pcv delete and catch can.
Im sure the smell could be fixed if it ever bothered you by extending the filter away from the engine bay or into the flow of air under the car although personally i quite like the smell of hot oil..
Im going to look into doing this myself now there does seem to be a few companies making these...

great conversion its genius the pd vag engine cannot be compared to the cr vag engine i bet it drives really well.
the engine looks right at home in the bay as well. Great job and nice one for breaking the norm and doing what suits your needs . ;)
