Thanks for all the responses! The springs were brand new from Awesome GTi and as far as I could tell, were the correct ones for this car. Is there anything that my mechanic could have done wrong during the install that would cause this?

What's the location of the fuel filter? Is it in the engine bay or near the fuel tank? Just taken advantage of the discount and bought myself a fuel filter and pollen filter!
