    Vibration under braking.....sometimes

The problem has gone. I haven't done anything at all except take the wheels off to check everything was fitted correctly and tight, which it was. After driving the car for 2 weeks including some very wet weather, the judder has never reappeared. I can only think there was something on either the...

    Vibration under braking.....sometimes

None whatsoever, steady as a rock and the brakes are feel perfect (good feel and even braking with no pulling to either side) all the time below 60mph but above that at motorway speeds, it's a fifty fifty gamble whether its smooth or whether the car feels as if its falling apart.

    Vibration under braking.....sometimes

Thanks for everyone's responses. I'll take the wheels off and check the pads are seated properly, then see if anything looks amiss. Breaks feel totally fine again today on normal A roads up to 60mph. Thanks again

    Vibration under braking.....sometimes

Hi. I had a hard noise when braking from high speeds and when then car was MOTed, there was imbalance between the front brakes. I decided to replace the front discs and pads and did this last week together with the slider pins which were worn on the nearside caliper. I used Mintex discs and...

    A4 Cabriolet beeping from rear

Hi. Decided to re-open this old thread as it seems most appropriate to my problem. It's a 2003 1.8T Cab and the alarm siren now goes off quite regularly when the car is locked. It keeps going when the car is unlocked and even for the first bit of driving. It sounds for about 30 seconds (seems...

A4 tdi Quattro juddering from rear ?

If the diff plates or bearings have already suffered damage, new oil won't cure the rumble but hopefully should stop it getting worse....depending on the cause. My Jeep required a complete diff rebuild with new bearings throughout and new limited slip plates. If it's a common issue with...

A4 tdi Quattro juddering from rear ?

I had a similar problem on my Jeep Grand Cherokee due to the non slip pads in the rear diff becoming dry and therefore "not" slipping. Not sure whether it's similar on an Audi but on my Jeep you had to add a special "non-slip" additive to the rear diff oil every major service. Might be worth...

    B6 S4 Convertible Mods

I'm surprised by the fact that Audi didn't spec them with heated seats and armrests as standard ! The Smarttop module can be bought from or fitted by Mods4cars.com mods4cars Online Shop Other forum members recommend one of the moderators NHN to retrofit RNSE. Several threads about. Both of...

    Cabriolet hand-brake cable wear

It's strange that the metal tie bars have worn so much. I would have thought it would be designed to have a sliding mount so nothing got worn through. The quattro must be a different setup as on mine, the cable outer wears through the rear edge of the plastic underpanels....still not ideal.

    Leaky roof

Can you tell where its leaking from ? Nearside, offside, header rail ? Any damage to rubber seals ? Or areas you can see where seals aren't flat. Try putting silicone grease around seals with hood open and then close hood. Then open hood and see if any areas where the grease hasn't squashed on...

Glove box removal / replacement in a Cab

Hi Leegsi, thanks. I found an empty threaded hole on the passenger side behind the end trim and have screwed it in there....at least it's got a home.. Cheers

Glove box removal / replacement in a Cab

I certainly can't see where the other is from. I did take the driver's side trim off too to get a wire to the fuse box. I replaced three bolts on the driver's side which I'm fairly sure is the right number (2 in the base and 1 by the fuse box). Has anyone else recently taken either or both the...

Glove box removal / replacement in a Cab

I've removed my glove box to mount a USB socket into the glove box to power an in car camera. The trouble is that I seem to have one mounting bolt left over...never a good sign  I have refitted 6 bolts, three along the top of the dash coloured part that you can see with the glove box door...

To Clean or Not to Clean?

It depends how well you want to look after your Cab. Everytime you clean the hood you will remove a bit of the waterproofing and so would seem logical to re-waterproof it. I know people who have never properly cleaned or waterproofed their hoods, but their hoods are very dirty and go a lovely...

To Clean or Not to Clean?

I would agree with SL4VE, never used Autoglym but have used Renovo hood cleaner and waterproofer for many years since owning a Triumph Stag. Hardest part is removing the in-grained green. A soft-ish nail brush, patience and I've even used a Vax to try and suck the dirt off rather than hose it...

Finding positive supply for in car video camera

Thanks I went for this one: REVIEW: Mini DVR 0801 The Smallest 1080p LCD Car Dash Cam with Ambarella A2S60 - Best Mini Car Cam - YouTube I like the guy's approach and have seen several of his reviews and the camera seems the best in terms of value, size, resolution and ease of getting...

Finding positive supply for in car video camera

Hi. Bought a video camera to mount in front of the rear view mirror (seems to be where most people fit them) and looking to see if I can find a conveniently located "ignition only" positive supply somewhere near to the rear view mirror. Some people seem to feed a lead all the way round the...

    How to route power cable

I've just taken the plunge and ordered a windscreen mounted video camera. Based on this review, it seems the best for under £100. REVIEW: Mini DVR 0801 The Smallest 1080p LCD Car Dash Cam with Ambarella A2S60 - Best Mini Car Cam - YouTube How have others routed the power cable and have you...

    Leaky roof

It will also be beneficial to use some silicone grease to lubricate the rubber seal all the way round, every 6 month's or so. It will help preserve the rubber and help the hood seat properly.

    Cabriolet hand-brake cable wear

I would check that those part numbers are still appropriate for a Quattro before you buy. Saw your other posts, looks good. David
