A3 8V sportback OEM tow bar retrofit, control module required?

So far it looks like £300 for a complete used tow bar and electrics, and £100 for the control module. I’ll be fitting and coding myself, so I’m optimistic that I can do it for £500. Tracking down exactly what parts I need seems to be the challenging part!

A3 8V sportback OEM tow bar retrofit, control module required?

Thanks for the replies guys! From digging about online, it looks like I need this module: Described as a towing control module, and seems to fit all MQB platform cars. They go for about £100-£150 on ebay, so not too bad. Connector A looks to be the mating connector for the loom that comes with...

A3 8V sportback OEM tow bar retrofit, control module required?

Hi all, it’s been a while since I’ve posted on here, mainly because my 8V has been such a lovely reliable daily! Over the last couple of years I’ve only really changed wheels, done routine services, replaced the timing belt and water pump, and replaced the clutch and DMF. I put the DMF failure...

PFL auto mirror tilt in reverse?

Yeah that sounds familiar, I would imagine your control module has that capability where as others don’t.

PFL auto mirror tilt in reverse?

Yes it is, I’ve done it on my 63 plate 8V, using VCDS. It doesn’t quite work as expect on some control module versions though, so I have not used it after the initial novelty wore off. The issue is that the control module isn’t able to accurately store the original ‘pre-dipped’ position, so my...

A6 3.0TDi BMK often won't start when hot. No fault codes, what to investigate?

Afternoon mate, yes I did, I should have updated the thread at the time! In my case it was the crank speed/position sensor. From memory it’s located near the bellhousing on the back of the block, possibly at about the 9 ‘o’ clock position on the bellhousing when viewed from the back. It was a...

A3 S-Line sportback build update - what next?

Thank you! Yes they are very useful! I even went as far as putting dynamat under the handles to stop any possible rattles. That would be a nice touch! I have been thinking about wrapping them. If I could find some wrap to match the bronze of the wheels I would like to wrap the mirror casings...

A3 S-Line sportback build update - what next?

A few reasons, I do a lot of miles (I bought it on 27k in November 2016, it’s on 74k now!), so 55+MPG is awesome, and I really enjoy low down torque. I’ve got a Mk2 mx5 1.8 track/drift car, so this is a lovely contrast! I have actually been eying up a few 8v S3s, unfortunately I racked up 6...

A3 S-Line sportback build update - what next?

Yeah I’ve been thinking about that for a while! Both my old 8p and the A6 were straight piped! However that would mean another map, and I don’t think there’s much power to be gained without a bigger turbo! I have also been enjoying the lack of hassle come MOT time, and with the police. I...

A3 S-Line sportback build update - what next?

Here is a pic of the CAD model I generated for the sub, you can see the port and internal structure. I actually changed the design slightly, stepping the cutout for the driver magnet at the bottom to reduce turbulent flow around the driver. The volume of the enclosure is precisely matched to the...

A3 S-Line sportback build update - what next?

Good evening all! It's been quite a while since I've been active on ASN, so I figured I'd post an update on my A3. I've had this one about 18 months now, I bought it to replace my lovely C6 A6 3.0TDi Quattro as it was costing me the earth to run! I swore I'd keep this one standard, but, well...

2013 5d S-line auto lights/wipers DIY retrofit info, coding help needed.

Hi All, I have a 2013 8V S-line, without auto lights and wipers. I had my windscreen replaced on my insurance the other day, while he was there I had a chat to the technician and asked if it was a different windscreen for cars with auto lights and wipers. He said no, as my car already has a...

Budget brake upgrade: Q7 brakes and or ducting, anyone done it?

That's a great link, thanks very much! I will look into S6 brakes. It doesn't talk about fitting any of them to a 3.0 TDi though.

Budget brake upgrade: Q7 brakes and or ducting, anyone done it?

I had a feeling you'd come through with some good info Karl! Thanks as always mate! I'll look into high temp fluid now, I'm sure even changing the old fluid will make a noticeable difference. As an aside, does anyone know if the master cylinder would be ok with a pressure bleeder (gunsen ez...

Budget brake upgrade: Q7 brakes and or ducting, anyone done it?

Interesting! I'll double check later, but I'm pretty sure I bought 321mm vented for the front when I did them last! I know there were two options for my year, and I think mine were the bigger of the two. You say originally, what are you running now? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Budget brake upgrade: Q7 brakes and or ducting, anyone done it?

Good morning all, I hope you've had a good weekend! Mine has been eventful! I have discovered just how limiting the 321mm single pot brakes are on the front of my 2005 3.0 TDi quattro. I managed to set fire to them after some 'spirited driving'. I'm not exaggerating when I say set fire to them...

    Rear Indicator LED bulb flicker

I don't believe it is possible to disable the bulb monitoring. I have fitted LED DRLs and Sidelights to match my factory xenon color and they do exactly the same thing for the same reason. It may be worth dropping T8UPS a message on here though as I'm sure he's looked into the issue in the past.

Exactly, it was the first week I had it and I assumed the DIS was fairly accurate. Yes, but the fuel gauge is also not particularly accurate either. IIRC there is a procedure for calibrating the fuel gauge, but I've not done it. At the moment the first half a tank is more like 2/3, and the...

Sounds good to me. In tank pump shouldn't be too bad. there is an access hatch under the carpet right behind the seats in the saloon. There is a sloped piece of plastic with a hatch in it, that cab be removed, and then I think there is a rubber or plastic cover over the actual access hole. It...
