Got it from a reputable dealer, with both uprated spring and plunger, everything fitted properly, checked all o-rings and seals all the way from the turbo to the manifold. Can't explain why I get more boost with the oem one, didn't notice the boost difference when I first fitted the dv+ since I...
That sucks to hear, I'm pretty much in the same boat as the brake vacuum behavior is back again. Might try to build my own smoke tester when I have time just to rule out any vacuum leaks once and for all. Other than that I think the only option left is to bite the bullet and get a new throttle...
So maybe a good idea to clean the maf more often then, thanks for the heads-up!
Cleaned my maf today, no difference in the rpm behavior, but noticed the brake vacuum holds much better since I replaced the dipstick. So definitely one vacuum leak fixed! Hopefully things improve further when the...
Thanks for the updates everyone! I have actually been thinking about the bad/generic map theory as well, as I have a generic stage 1 map on mine. When combined with other tuning parts like an aftermarket intake some cars can get misfires etc, while others run perfectly fine. Although I can't...
Sounds like an intermittent sensor problem, throttle position sensor would be my best guess (integrated into the throttle body) if pcv and vacuum leaks have been ruled out.
Tried my best diagnosing with vcds, every sensor reading on the throttle body looked perfect, no issues in the output...
I have the Sachs organic clutch combined with a lightweight SMF, in overall really satisfied with it! My clutch was still ok but the DMF was rattling like crazy so had everything replaced including release bearing. The main reason I decided to go with a SMF setup was reliability as I drive the...

Did the same test today with an A4 1.8 TFSI, noticed some rev hang at 1200 rpm before dropping to idle, so that might actually be normal on these cars. Never dropped below idle speed however.
Will try to...
Replaced the dipstick today, no difference whatsoever. Did a few test drives in various conditions and tried to provoke the issue as much as possible. Releasing the throttle and pressing in the clutch while on boost I managed to stall the car a few times when revs dropped way below idle. Doing...
The coolant temperature shouldn't have anything to do with fueling or throttle control, easy to check with vcds when car is cold (reading will be very close to ambient temp).
Checked my dipstick today, not only is it missing half of the plastic, the o-ring is also gone, possibly causing a small...
Thanks for the update! As for the air filter, I have a hard time remembering exactly how it sits inside the engine cover as I run a revo intake, The cover splits in two held together by 10 or so screws, so easy to check the fitment with the cover off :)
I have exactly the same issue as you describe, perfect when cold but once at operating temperature revs sometimes don't drop as fast as they should. 90% of the time everything is fine. Replacing the pcv improved things a lot. I have since then done a carbon clean, cleaned the injectors, replaced...
£320 including the seals sounds like a really good price, here in Sweden it would be more than double that! All the seals was around £80-90, depends a bit on dealer discounts etc. If doing it yourself you'll also need the injector tool kit which was about £70 (ordered from the UK)
I vacuumed...
Been really lazy with the updates here (as usual :P), all work is finally done, at least for now...
So with the ic and all surrounding parts off I had lots of room to fiddle with the intake manifold and carbon clean. Manifold came off quite easily, hardest part was an electrical connector with...
Thanks, t8ups bulbs are on my shopping list then, hopefully this will fix the issue and I can finally get rid of the resistors that have been bothering me for two years now :P
Having almost the same problem with my sidelights (one side always shows bulb out when starting the car but works fine once I move the light switch), so looking at getting some better bulbs... Do you have led DRLs as well or just the sidelight bulbs? Any resistors needed with the t8ups bulbs?
Just leave them in, won't do any harm regardless of what coolant you have. Mine were packed up in all kinds of dirt so removed them while cleaning the reservoir, didn't really matter as I was gonna fill the cooling system with fresh G13 anyway :)
They are silicate cartridges, supposed to make the coolant more anti-corrosive. They were added to some high performance engines since the G12 coolant was silicate free. Not needed anymore according to my dealer as the new G13 again contains silicate.
I plugged it with a screw and silicone just like dg-1984, I've never managed to hit the stalk by accident so not really an issue, although I do dislike having a switch that doesn't do anything or should not be touched... I've read somewhere you could replace the stalk with a TT one which won't...
OEM pulley is going back on then, not a big deal as the crank assembly will still end up being lighter with the SMF.
The fluidampr looks interesting, have seen a few of those on rebuilt engines. Might be getting one sometime in the future considering the SMF removes one more damping element...
No worries! :) Just to be clear you already have the OEM short shifter in your S3, only shorter compared to an A3. A popular mod in the US as they never got the 8P S3, but an aftermarket like the Forge is even shorter. I believe the longest setting on the Forge is the same as the S3 :P
