    Cracked Isofix mounting plate

Thanks for all the replies and sorry for the delay. It's an early 2009 car, I've owned it since Jan 2013, never had any accidents under my ownership and am pretty confident it's all original paintwork so would be surprised if it'd had any repairs before my ownership either. Audi UK customer...

    Cracked Isofix mounting plate

Last weekend I noticed that one of our children's car seats seemed to have a little movement. After checking, I can see that the isofix point is part of a plate which I assume is welded to the cars floor. However, the plate has a large crack right across the top of the isofix point and is at the...

    Central Locking problem

I'm interested in this to, I have the exact same problem but on my front passenger door, all other doors open fine but this has to be opened from the inside the first time after the car is unlocked, and again then opens fine from outside until the car is locked again

    Engine rebuild required on a B8 @68k

Sorry, no not Quattro.... Probably doesn't really help AjM in that case!

    Engine rebuild required on a B8 @68k

I average 32-33mpg on my commute with an average speed of about 17mph. Last week I did a run of just over 100 miles and averaged just over 45mpg (accordion to the DIS). Mine seems to be averaging a little less since I had the repair, but that could easily be down to the colder weather as much...

Looking good so far. Interesting choice to remove the 3.0 and Quattro badges but leave the TDi

    Engine rebuild required on a B8 @68k

i think there will come a point when it has to be done. Over a period of 9 months from when I bought mine to having it repaired, my oil consumption went up from 1 litre every 500 miles to 1 every 220 miles. By that time, it was noticeably not as smooth revving as it should be, would hesitate on...

    Engine rebuild required on a B8 @68k

i completely agree with you Pebble dasher, but I guess the question is how many cars does this affect? My local Audi dealer said that mine was the 5th 2.0T FSI they'd had in for this repair, 1 was fixed with new breather, 3 with pistons and mine with a new block. But in terms of how many 2.0T...

    Engine rebuild required on a B8 @68k

Yes that is correct. Think of the MMI as a dipstick (although less accurate !). A dipstick has a min and max, same as the MMI, but is the minimum and maximum of the safe oil level range. In essence, if the engine holds 4.5l of oil for example (can't remember the exact figure), when the MMI shows...

    Engine rebuild required on a B8 @68k

My total came to just over £9k with the complete new block although Audi footed most of the bill

    Engine rebuild required on a B8 @68k

Just as an update on mine, I used 1 litre of oil in about 1300 miles on the new engine. Since topping up again, I've now done 650 miles and the MMI is only down to about 3/4 so looking like it's using much less now that at first. No improvement on fuel as yet though, still only averaging 28-29...

    Engine rebuild required on a B8 @68k

I had the oil consumption test, went back early as oil light was on after 200 odd miles, then straight to a complete new engine. I think they'll want to review the results from the oil consumption test and decide how they proceed from there

    Engine rebuild required on a B8 @68k

Well i've now used 1 litre of oil since my complete new engine was fitted.... Total mileage just over 1,300. That's a fair bit less than I was hoping to see. Do new engines use more oil while they're 'bedding in'?

I'd be interested in these but notice that AP list a seperate kit for TDI's to Petrol's. Not sure why as other companies seem to sell the same kit for all engines, the only difference being for quattro / non-quattro models. I'll try to do a bit more research

    Engine rebuild required on a B8 @68k

£2k. It's a lot, but I was kind of left with no choice, I doubt it would have sold privatly so would have probably had to put it in the auction to make next to nothing. I was lucky to be honest though, Audi's offiial good-will ends at 5 years or 124k miles. Mine is an April 2009 so almost 4 1/2...

    Engine rebuild required on a B8 @68k

this was my initial thoughts as well, but over 12k miles the oil consumption increased by over double to around 1 litre every 220-240 miles, and the car has started to run a bit rougher, smoke more, hesitate etc etc so I don't think it's something that can be left indefinitley Either be prepared...

    Engine rebuild required on a B8 @68k

From most of the comments i've read from people who's car have this issue, fuel economy normally seems ok. In fact, I've seen several people say it's dropped AFTER the repair. For info, mine generally averages 34mpg around town, and on a long steady run i get low 40's mpg.

Advice on buying A4 SE compared to S-Line please (ride quality/ harshness)

I've previously had an E46 M3 as my daily car for almost a year (on the standard 19's and also with standard suspension). I'd say the ride in an S-line is smoother, certainly on the 18's. I have replica 19's fitted to mine now and in my mind it's still a fairly smooth ride, certainly less bumpy...
