A mate from work is looking to replace the cloth seats from his Sportback as they've bobbled after 70k. Sounds a bit poor, the cloth seats from my B5 were immaculate after 90k!
Anyway, what straight fit options are there for the 8P Sportback? Are they the same interior as the hatchback (other...
May be a very stupid question... but your dad hasn't turned the DIS off has he?
On the S4, the DIS can be switched off by touching the stalk button (rather than holding it for a trip reset, etc.). Not sure if it's the same on your car, but worth looking into.
It's unlikely that a mechanical fault such as a knackered turbo could be resolved by turning the engine off and on again though. It surely must be the ECU spitting it's dummy out for some reason and choosing not to request boost.
From my experiences with my S4, the only time i've had the car...
Thanks for the input guys.
I'm not at all worried about it being the actual turbo. This defo sounds like the ECU pulling back. But even if it wasn't requesting boost from the turbo, I would still expect a 1.9 diesel to be able to do more than 65 with no boost. That's more the concern...
My sister phoned me panicking yesterday as her car decided to lose power on the motorway. She said she had been travelling along at 90, then all of a sudden it lost power and wouldn't go quicker than 75. She called a couple minutes later to say even with her foot to the floor it had slowed...

I'm guessing by the flood of responses that no one has ever had to replace a clutch on one of these?
What else could cause a burning smell on hard acceleration?
Hi folks, my sister is complaining of a burning smell when she puts her foot down in her standard 1.9TDi. She says the smell doesn't last long, and with 'normal' driving, she doesn't smell aything. It's on around 90,000 miles now, so my initial thought is it's the clutch. Can anyone think of...
