you can use petrol, WD40 or white spirit. there are more dedicated products out there, I use Autosmart Tardis which I think is the best.

    New Car 'Paint Protection'

They are easily one of the best in the UK... not as showy as many, but would run rings around most. Gordon is one of the few detailers in the UK I would let touch my cars...if I didn't like butchering myself...:rockwoot:

what is sealant, is it necessary?

a sealant is more of a man made coating, instead of using a natural wax element, they use chemicals... it does the same thing - protect your paint. the positives of a sealant are that they can last longer, and seem to be generally harder wearing, plus can 'sheet' the water better from the car...

    ValetPro Citrus Pre Wash

I use my AS G101 for similar. saves (yet another) product... Although, I do still like using snow foam too... :D

    Quick wash with CarPro Reset

@scotty76 How do you find the CG no touch? I've been using it for a few years now, I always find it gets my cars clean enough not to bother with a "proper" wash... I've recently moved over to Bilt Hamber Auto foam, I find that works well too...

Titanium Rotors - which sealant ?

didn't realise PP was still on the go... I remember when they first came out, thought they had just faded away!

    Scratch removal

if you can catch your nail on it, then it can mean it's too deep to polish out. I've managed to get rid of a few deep marks like below, but requires wet sanding. before, this car had been damaged in a car park, my mate was being quoted hundreds of pounds to fix it: after a few hours...

My runabout cleaned and winter wheels removed....

I decided to get the winter wheels off the runabout Citigo today, so took a couple of quick pictures... this is the winter look with the matt black wheels and winter tyres.. with the weather finally getting better, I decided to get it cleaned up and ready for the temperature increase...

    cleaning products!!!

@scotty76 ... I'm more like a leg end!:think: :jester: I agree what you are saying, I use a cheap Hellfrauds mitt... I think it's the grey one... I also use a sponge - a gritt sponge (used for tiling) and indeed, only I bucket with no guard... and it's even the £1 Orange B&Q bucket...

wash, swirl x, wax help plz

no, you don't have to.... you can use anything I guess... your cloths will do the job as well... detailing is an art, not a science...have some fun and try different things!

wash, swirl x, wax help plz

yeah, SRP is your stage 2 bottle..although I'm not sure if it's more polish than filler, so you may be cutting into your clear coat... not too much of a worry by hand on usually hard Audi clear, but best you are aware of that, as when the clear is gone, it's a repaint..... and EGP is your stage...

wash, swirl x, wax help plz

you don't dry before claying.... what's the point in that when you need to wet the car again to use the clay??? I wouldn't bother with scratch x either OP... To get an nice easy shine on your car, nip into Hellfrauds and pick up AutoGlym SPR (which has fillers to hide the swirls, and won't...

Cheap clay bars what there like?

+1 on the FK1000P a great product, long lasting, works well for silver and can be used on the paint and alloys... put it on very thin though! :D

Cheap clay bars what there like?

I've found the best one to be the Autosmart cloth... it's the thin blue one. Chemical guys do a thicker version, in 2 grades.... I have both of them as well... but they are not as good as the AS one (IMO) If you don't want the bother of getting a hold of your local rep for Autosmart, you could...

Cheap clay bars what there like?

as above, I wouldn't get the ones off ebay... Have you thought about getting a clay mitt instead of a bar? they last longer, easier to use for a newbie and are also quicker! Either way, with a bar or cloth, make sure you have plenty of lube on the paint, and do not use any pressure, let the...

    Best non-water cleaning product?

exactly, the damage comes from people not using it correctly, and the negativity comes (usually) from people that have never even used it! a great quote from your link: 2 bucket method - so 1990s lol

    Best non-water cleaning product?

:jump::jump::jump: no bickering from me, just trying to get the truth out there about good products that I actually use to help the OP out with their question. it's all fun chat.... :lick: and anyway, nothing to make up, I've offered my services out to help Steeeeeve understand the product...

    Best non-water cleaning product?

very welcome to use it on any of my cars...I have no issues with that at all. in fact, how about you come round and I'll actually show you how to use it properly and you'll see 100% that it causes no damage. while you're here, I'll also show you how 1 bucket and no grit guards cause no damage...
