Late to the party, but if it's useful, I've replaced my standard heated seats for full electric without unplugging the battery, and as Darren92 has stated, don't start the ignition.
You'll be fine
There should two rubber bungs (one on each side of the boot sides) which you can put a slim flathead/Allen Key/hex driver in to lower or raise them.
Lowering them means your tailgate should close a little tighter, therefore allowing your latches to meet.
A mechanic did it to mine when I...
Okay I got some photos from the other guy and the plastic on one of the bars has been chewed by his dog (at least he was honest!), so might look to take yours.
I could drive up this morning if you're around. Sure you can't help me out at £50?
I got a manual so don't need the pedals.
Sorry, I won't take the bars for £60 if I have to travel to Kent when I could pick them up in Brighton for the same price. I only live 10 miles away from Central.
Where in Kent are you?
Yeah I do like the look of those Farad ones but I want OEM because I don't keep my bars on the car. I only put them on only when I use a box, and OEM use the locating holes on the rails.
I bought a pair of Thule WingBar Evos and they use rubber blocks to clamp on the rails, ended up using a...
Ha! :tearsofjoy:

I can't be the only person that thinks the moulded plastic mud 'flaps' are pretty useless on lowered cars.
What do people think about these? Suspiciously cheap and probably nasty but they are rubber which I think, look better anyway...
Yeah, I holiday quite a bit in the UK, and I tend to go to remote areas with lots of country roads and loose tracks so I think I may have shot myself in the foot... Seeing as I only bought the car two months ago!!
But like I said, I absolutely love the look of the car, just need to adjust the...
Jakm, im actually looking to raise my ride height.
I love the look and style of my Black Edition S-Line Avant, but as a 38 year old family man with a frequently loaded vehicle, I'd like the ride to be more a touch more comfortable (and without tyres rubbing arches) and so looking to switch...
Cheers Spartacus, some great advice.
I'll no doubt still be scouring the internet for various resources and videos but for the time being, at least I have a good place to start.
So contrary to popular opinion, I've been meaning to switch 'up' my 20mm lowered Avant S-Line Black Edition springs and shocks for standard SE ones.
Pretty sure many have done this but how difficult is it for someone who doesn't have a car lift or previous experience changing them?
I don't...
