Help Please Audi S4 gearbox overheating?

$700 Canadian is about £400 or $530 US. Is it not cheaper to buy the one from ECS for $400 US and have them send it across to you? 2011 car would explain the issues, as I mentioned above, pre-2013 cars had inadequate cooling / thermal protection for the PCB. If you replace the PCB and improve...

Help Please Audi S4 gearbox overheating?

First question, what is the year of manufacture for your car? Next, you probably never needed to replace the full mechatronic unit last year to begin with, just the PCB is what tends to be required. Pre-2013 cars have less protection / cooling and the constant heating / cooling as well as...

    Engine coolant fill and bleed

It's no different than any other engine really, but Audi recommend use of a vacuum bleeding tool as it removes the majority of air during the initial fill up of the engine, then there is minimal air left to bleed after. However you can still do it without a vacuum bleeder. Just fill up with...

Help Please Replace one or all control arms?

How long is a piece of string? Our B7 A4 is on all original bushings at 12 years old & 83,000 miles. However we have just found a worn front lower, inner track arm bushing on our B8.5 A4 which turns 5 years old in October with only 21,000 miles on it. So the honest answer is no-one knows. Now...

Help Please Engine undertray fasteners - A4 Avant 3.0 TDI SE

Dealer will sell them cheap enough to be honest, or just cable tie like I did on my B7 A4. Either will do the job. If you need to know the size you can always take out the one from the other side, measure it up and order one that looks similar from eBay that has the same dimensions. They are...

    S-Tronic Gearbox Oil Change

Did mine myself. Genuine Audi oils & filter inc new oil filter seal, drain plug & drain plug washer. Cost £145 delivered from Crewe Audi via the parts request on here. Car had only covered 18,000 miles when it was done, but was 4 years old, so changed it regardless for piece of mind. Now on...

They also wanted £55 to replaced 2 corroded exhaust clamps.....erm no chance!! Will be doing the bush...

    Help Please Creaking suspension

Not sure if it would cause the creaking, but if it's starting to crack it's time to start thinking about getting the bushes replaced regardless before they get worse.

How bad is this oil leak?

I can't see any fresh oil in that image at all. Looks like old caked on oil that has been there for some time, so doubt there is even a leak. Clean it up, check it after a few weeks and job done.

    New b8 s4 owner with problems s-tronic

No problem, if you need the install guide let me know and I'll upload it for you. Only thing I will say is that if you fit the PCB yourself you will be draining the fluid at the same time, so you have to plan ahead as to how you will transport the car to Audi with no gearbox fluid. There is...

    New b8 s4 owner with problems s-tronic

Normally I would say the first thing to do is get fresh oil in it and a filter change (if your gearbox has the replacement cartridge type filter, not all do). Make sure only genuine Audi fluid and filters are used. Audi themselves do it for a fixed price of £225 which is not too bad as the...

    Aux Air Heater Element Recall

The Aux heater is a supplementary electric heater. Diesel engines take very long to warm up compared to petrol engines, so it takes longer to get hot air into the car if relying on heat from the engine alone. The aux heater allows instant heat to be generated the moment the ignition is turned...

Help Please Several fault codes (b8 s4)

Too many different and unrelated codes there to be an actual issue with a specific part of the car. Has to be a general electrical issue. Either bad battery as you suggest or bad earth somewhere. At least that is where I would start. What is the battery voltage with the car off and with the...

    Aux Air Heater Element Recall

So found out from Audi today that our B8.5 2.0TDI requires the Aux Air Heater Element Recall that was mentioned on here a few months back. I originally thought they were not fitted to cars in the UK, but it appears they are indeed fitted to most, if not all, diesel engine A4's and some petrol...

Anyone caught out by "the beast from the east" ??

Tyres, tyres, tyres! Amazes me how many people think "oh, I have 4wd, ABS, TC, ESP, Skid Control, etc, etc, etc" and then wonder why they get stuck when driving around in their summer tyres. Tyres are the ONLY thing making contact with the road, each tyre only making contact with an area about...
