Is it time to go electric?

Hi guys thought I'd put my bit in - It covers a lot of the points already raised but here goes. :grumpy: Reasons FOR Electric Cars Operation of an EV causes virtually no environmental pollution (so its said). Reasons against (stay with me……) An electric vehicle can NEVER be a viable option...

Buzzing sound from Alpine unit, any suggestions.

Possibly picking up interference from the HID ballasts? May be an earthing fault - try running a temporary wire from the HU chassis directly to the battery negative to see if it makes a difference.

What is the recommeded ideal DAB aerial.

I used a universal glass mount antenna on my installation & it works just fine - got it fom Connects2. It can be fitted quite unobtusively in the upper corner at the passenger side of the windscreen.

    Windscreen Washers

From someone elses post (that I can't seem to find now) the part numbers for the fan style jets are: 4G0955987A/4G0955988A (the two jets) & 8E0955431 (adaptor washer - you need 2 of them). Hope that helps.

Unnecessary complicated madness in my opinion......

    ****** coding......

I never heard of having to code a battery to a car before???? :wtf:That is just stupid in my opinion. I've changed batteries in plenty of cars over the years without any problems so, it seems, I have to agree with DieselJake on this one - another reason not to buy a new car.......:sadlike:

    Copper grease or silicon

Hi folks - sticking my oar in on this debate - Copaslip is excellent for use on steel bolts/nuts/assemblies (but NOT for brake 'moving parts' applications) however, when used on steel into aluminium fittings it can actually start an electrolytic corrosion process over time. That's why if its...

    Door not opening from outside

Sounds like typical VAG group malady of dodgy electrics - It may come alright on its own - intermittent faults are difficult to track down. My dads Passat does that, so does my brothers SEAT Leon, so does my A4 B6 and so did the Passat my bruv replaced with the SEAT...... and I think its...

    Is buying a QuickJack mad?

It does seem that way but in practice, although you can make the car move around when applying a lot of force (seized nuts for instance) I haven't been too concerned about it. Applying force with common sense appears to work - no 6 foot tommy bars lifting or pushing at 90degrees to vehicle axis...

    Is buying a QuickJack mad?

I have a full hydraulic 'scissor' type lift that I use - a possible alternative? It cost around £1300 delivered and I consider it a 'how the hell did I EVER manage before' bit of kit. You can raise the vehicle so wheels are around chest height or anywhere in between & it can be locked in several...

    Waxoyl

I sprayed the underside of my B6 with a homemade concoction - 50% underseal, 50% Waxoyl mixed & sprayed on with a shutz gun. I've personally been using Waxoyl for many years on the various cars (and classic cars) that I've owned and do recommend it. It is now a Hammerite product and is still...

    Anyone know what these are?

Looks like a temporary installation. Are there more of them on the road? I wonder if it might be part of an average speed camera system? They are usually painted yellow.

    Body kits

'Back in the day', I put a Zakspeed Racing Arch kit onto my 1974 Mk II Capri. A lot of effort but I rather liked it. :yahoo:

Ever wondered what all the codes on the build sticker mean?

Hello all, don't know if this has been covered before but here goes. If you look in your service schedule book inner front page, there is a sticker that gives all the build/options details for your car in 3 letter/number combos (and also the paint code). There is a pdf file that identifies every...
