Is this your first car? Your heater won't blow warm air until the water in the cooling system has warmed up a bit, oh and oil burners usually take a little longer to warm up than petrol versions.

Modern convertibles are much better than of old, no more wind noise than a tintop and just as warm in winter too. It is suprising how often you can get the roof down too (sold ours last year though).

You should get out and drive your choice of cars, we had a Boxster S for 2 years buying it new in 2005, from a driving point of view I don't think it gets much better (Cayman probably is slightly). In Porsche terms I think they are a bargain but you have to remember that they are £40k+ motors...
Whilst leagally they look to be in the clear their behaviour is unethical and I suspect not the business model that any decent company would want to be involved with.
