    What have you done today?

I haven't posted on this forum in a while but I still kept my b5. I'm expecting a delivery of my standard factory rear bumper to arrive to replace the aftermarket one that keeps falling off.

    terrible mpg

Possible fuel leaks or the fuel filter isn't properly secured(?), or leaks on the fuel lines/breather valve in the engine. My 2.4 V6 would normally do 25-26mpg in town and 32-34mpg on motorways. My dad used to own a '96 1.6, I can't give you accurate figures but its fuel economy is way higher...

    Brake warning light!

I thought the exclamation mark was anything brake related. A few months ago I had the same warning and it turned out to be low brake fluid.

Whats the logical next car, post S4

I was seriously considering a b7 S4 2005 as they're becoming more affordable. My annual mileage is very low therefore fuel cost isn't an issue, the main issue is insurance cost. The lowest quote I found was £1200+ because of the higher risk in parts of Newcastle. The other reason preventing...

How much time and £ do you spend on your b5?!!!

Unfortunately, I've been made redundant also (end of 2009). Spent: £200 on the rear bumper - cosmetic job. Looks much nicer now. £140 filling in some holes where the door trim corners had gone, and repaired the door sills. £190 shaved off the studs and welded the doors, having removed the...

    Pre-facelift 2.4 for £3k...?

£3k is far too high. You won't get much in return despite the bits added. Even at £2k I still think that's rather high.

    Exterior door trim

The sills and door trims had already been painted. This is how it looks without the door trims & corner trims. Those holes in the corner will be patched up as of next week. This is how it looked before with the trims on:

    Exterior door trim

They're prone to rust and rot from the inside. The replacement trims are a newer design made of hard plastic inside. There's quite a fair number of b5s I've seen with at least one of the trims removed, leaving behind a row of white clips. I've had all my door trims and clips removed...

    Dented bonnet

Reading this thread and seeing those pictures make me angry. It's just another reminder of how the system is too soft on crime and other offences. I don't know...

Best looking B5 saloon you've ever seen?

If predator drives a car, that'll be it (abeit different colour).

    MERRY CHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas and best wishes to all. My b5 has never let me down this year, so I'm wishing for another year of impeccable reliability. :kissmyrings:

    F*%"^£$g Symphony!!

The volume thing seems to be a common problem. My Concert stereo has a similar problem but it happens frequently during the winter from a cold start. I've had no issues every other season. It hates the cold (to put it non-technically).

    HID MOT Shocker!!!!

Up till now I've never had an MOT issue with aftermarket HIDs even they were installed in 2006.

Has anyone seen pre face on this reg?

Looks very dodgy. I doubt anyone would go to great lengths to swap all the parts from a pre-facelift into a facelift car. That makes no sense.

    Removing sidelights?

To remove the side lights the bulb holder simply pulls out and the same too for the bulbs. No tools are required.

    My new car..

Had that been my previous car I'd feel the same way. I heard Byzan's bought (past tense?) a TQ. I was thinking of changing but it looks like I'll be keeping her instead. Just had it serviced today by DPM. :sm4:

    BMW Drivers......

I've seen this video before. I read from sources that the car belongs to his dad.

    Another silly question, RS4 grille

I heard they're in very short supply, therefore I expect the prices to be around £50-65 ish.

    ooooucha beastie

Expansion of metals maybe when it gets hot - and badly welded joints? Sounds plausible.

S4 pre facelift badges and position

Back in 2000 I never did like the new style badge. The change was very unexpected because many recognised the older style red/silver trapezium to be a trademark for the S-brand, which should never have changed. Anyway that was 9 years ago. The new badge has grown on me since. Perhaps they...
