    Losing boost!!

what engine do you have mate, petrol or diesel..... You can check the vac pipes to the solenoids, and plugs connections to any other sensors, but you may need the codes scanned anyway to know for sure, and there may not even be a code if you have no cel. Limp mode is triggered by a variety of...

serious battery drain problem b6 01 Help

supply B+ too low doesnt necessarily indicate a drain or short, rather an intermittent break in the power to the wire or circuit common to the parts that show an error code. A fuse in the ECU compartment may have blown, or power to the central convenience module (fuse again or relay) may be...

    cam belt skipping a tooth

May not be relevent mate, but the N108 commencement of injection valve, is a preinjection unit that seriously quells combustion clatter, you may have knocked the plug off or have a wrong plug on it as several are 2 pin jobs that fit each other like the EGR solenoid and the IMTS sensor, have you...

    Removing stickers

Use surgical spirit from boots (IPA alcohol) - buff with a cloth to remove the bloom left behind after, but its very good at dissolving glue. Dab it on with a paintbrush and use a cloth at the bottom just to catch the run off, the stickers should just slide off after a bit. Its harmless, but...

CAR, WON'T START, NO COMPRESSION !!!

yep definately bent valves there fella. the 20v unit only has to jump 2 teeth to bend the valves. mine jumped and didnt break, exactly the same symptoms, but for a different reason, sludge had blocked the oil pump, the tensioner on the VVT dropped down, the VVT chain boxed up and the engine...

    Vibration/wobble on tickover

mine is exactly the same, and a blip to 1k rpms smooths it out, but mines a Bosch VP37 distro pump unit, TDi 110.....it is in my case, I think, a small fuel leak from one of my injector pipes. Holding 1k instead of 850 idle makes the fuel pressure rise, and picks up the dragging cylinder thats...

    Hard starting

if its a distributor pump it can be worn pump seals, sticky anti-shudder valve or fuel cut valve, or a leak somewhere on the fuel system, allowing air to enter overnight and unbleed a line, or if its a common rail system the rail may not be holding pressure overnight, try priming with a couple...

    Buzzing when starting from cold

mine was the same, decided it was either the alternator, or the aux air pump but seemed to come from the rear of the cam cover sometimes, the colder the weather the longer it buzzed.....never got to the bottom of it tho.

    Performance statistics calculator.

hehe yeah, what bothered me is some folk posted higher bhp/ton figures than mine - with heavier motors too....mine is the 163 and the only higher powered one (standard) is the 190....which comes out at a different figure again so everyone was either not using the correct weight or over...

Eyup lads! My 1.8T had gone bang a year ago, and has been languishing in my inlaws driveway until today....its gone into the garage to get fixed at last! When it broke, new engines cost 2 kidneys and a lung - but they are a bit cheaper now and I cant wait to get her back. The garage is...
