    Xenons are plug and play!

Hmmm....looks like things have moved on a bit since I last looked a few months ago. Reading that response on the Tyresmoke thread though, If you buy complete Xenon units as an accessory which are therefore marked as EU approved, you have headlamp levelling ( via the switch inside the car ) and...

    Xenons are plug and play!

I am sure we have done this before.............As I have managed to find out after trawling through many sites on this subject, If you buy the car new, then washers and auto-levelling are a legal requirement. However, there is no law that states that if the xenons are fitted as an after-market...

    driving a quattro

The real difference with Quattro is that you do all your braking in a straight line, as normal, but instead of then feathering the throttle and slowly giving it more and more as the corner opens out, you just turn into the corner and plant your foot to the carpet. You can feel the power...

    Goodyear GSD3 Problem!!

Platinum, As Frank says you will be fine with the difference in tread depths. With the Quattro, the key is the axle.....the tyres on the same axle must be of the same tread depth, but the tread depth difference between front and back axles should not be more than 2/3 mm also. Therefore, with...

    How long do brakes last?

Hi, It depends totally on the style of driving but with town driving like you do, I woud expect them to last about 25/30 th miles but as I say, some people are heavy on brakes, some light. As for the warning, yes, there is a warning which comes up on the dash when they need replacing ( and it...

    Tyre pressure gauges

Best thing to do is log on to the Autoexpress web-site www.autoexpress.co.uk and look at the products tested section for tyre pressure gauges. they have done tests on all sorts and put their findings on there.

    recommended tyre pressures

Yes, I have trawled through all the threads on tyres, just thought I would ask you, thanks. I think I may try some P-Zero Nero's as they seem to come out v.well in all the tests and are supposed to be quieter than the Rosso's. Anyway, that is a thread for the 'Handling' forum !! thanks again.

    recommended tyre pressures

Great, thanks......a bit higher than currently on my 17's then. I will be putting the standard 235/40's on as I like to keep things as the manufacturer recommends.....after all, as you say, they have spent plenty of time testing their cars. Any recommendations on tyres ?

    recommended tyre pressures

Bub, What are the recommended tyre pressures for you 1.8T 190 S-Line ? I have just bought some Ronal O.E 5 Arm alloys ( S-lines ) for my 190T Sport but the sticker on the inside of the door only shows the 17 inch tyre pressures......is it the same for the larger alloys...eg 32 front and back ?

Help!! A4 keyfob boot button doesnt work

On a similar theme, does anyone know if you can get struts which will open the boot by themselves.....in other words, instead of the boot unlocking and opening about 1 centimetre, it unlocks and then fully opens up ?

    S-LINE 5 ARM WHEELS

Thanks Guys.....it looks like reps are going to be the only affordable choice and I have heard good things about Rondell.....they do a copy of the 5 spoke called the type 022 and apparently they make wheels for Audi Germany. They claim that these are same/similar quality and they seem to be more...

    S-LINE 5 ARM WHEELS

Thanks Simon. Are your reps 18 x 8 with ET 35 as well ? It is just that the car often has a full load of 4 people + luggage so I want to double check 235's won't rub as I would rather keep to O.E size tyres if poss, the same as yourself.

    S-LINE 5 ARM WHEELS

Oh, and presumably the different offset to O.E with reps ( eg ET35, not ET43 ) won't mess up the suspension geometry in any way ? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I know this sort of thing is crucial to tyre life with quattro's but don't know enough about these things myself.

    S-LINE 5 ARM WHEELS

So if I go for reps, presumably I want 8 x 18 pcd 5/112 ET 35 but 225/40 18 tyres as opposed to 235/40 18's on the O.E wheels because the reps are ET35 as opposed to ET43 ? From what I have read on hear, the 225's wont give me the clearance problems that the 235's would on reps, is that right ...

    S-LINE 5 ARM WHEELS

I am looking around at these style of wheels and wondered if anyone her that has them on their A4 B6 S-line could tell me what the standard size of wheels and tyre is from the factory. I have looked everywhere on here but cannot find a definitive answer. I think that from the factory, the...

    Quattro's and crosswinds ?

I just seem to remember reading somewhere that with all four wheels being driven, the car was less affected by crosswinds because there wasn't one end pushing or pulling the other whilst it was not necessarily tracking straight due to the effect of the wind. Obviously the Alzheimers is worse...

    Quattro's and crosswinds ?

All you quattro owners.........I have an A4 1.8T 190 quattro sport and expected it to be rock-solid in crosswinds, but I noticed today that in fact it gets moved around a fair bit in strong winds. I always thought that 4wd virtually eliminated this, so should I get things like the wheel...

    new tyres needed :(

Had recent experience of the tyre replacement issue with quattro's and eventually got a reply from the Oracle known as Audi.......For Audi's with the Torsen diff ( A4 upwards ) you need only replace the two tyres on the same axle, providing the other two are not worn down to a few mm. The Torsen...
