That's really annoying as I only purchased my cable last year from Marshalls and this is what they said at the time "The best cable is the HEX + CAN USB VCDS @ £270 inc. delivery and VAT."
Which is what I purchased, now my RS3 is a 2015 model so I guess it is OK but I would have expected this...
You could try installing the software on another laptop or pc to see if it might be a USB port issue, failing that if the cable/plug is not visually damaged it will need to go back to RT.

19249 and that code is accepted but still the issue when trying to change the power setting, the other code you list was not accepted.

I am running the latest VCDS software (16.8.0) and dongle firmware,I can read the steering power level OK, I can also input the security code ok but when I try to change the power setting it states that the security code is required which I had already entered previously and it will not allow it...
