For the steamed up windows - Check under the battery for water, if present then the drain is blocked with leaves etc... The air intake for the interior of the car is next to the battery so it could be sucking some in? remove the battery and clear the blockage. Jim.

Have you checked the MAF sensor?

Are you sure the car is supplying 12 Volts to the plugs? I had one that had corrosion between the plug and the electrical connection causing the plug not to work correctly. Is the resistance of the glow plugs should be less than 1 ohm? Jim.

Have you checked the user manual for what the water light is. Could be coolant or windscreen washer fluid level. Or maybe a faulty sensor. If there are only 2 wires going to the sensor then you can bridge them and check if the light comes back on. Regards, Jim.

I should have read you post better. You might be correct with the throttle sensor. Although I would have thought it would have done the same thing throughout the rev range in all gears. If you can strip the sensor down you might be able to clean it instead of replacing.

If its the 110bhp model then it should be the AFN engine as advised above. You should have a lable in the service book that states what engine code you have. If you have lost the service book then there is also a label where your spare wheel is located.

My 1998 1.9TDi does the same. Just make sure you don't thrash the engine until it has had a chance to warm up, otherwise you risk increased wear on the engine.
