OZ rears will need a spigot ring. I just did the same thing but on Sportback. Without that ring you'll have the issues you mention.

I still get the ticking for 10-20 seconds on cold start....but the clicking from the exhaust valves when changing gear, reversing/slow traffic is gone. two different things...click or tick.
