Sorry guys don't check out this section that often.
Andy if you are careful the door clips are all fully re-usable - I've not had to replace any of mine yet.
Cooltempo - they are Focal 6W2 mids from the original Focal Utopia Set.
I've got to redo all of that on the door as it now has a new...
Just found this document on the internet http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_332.pdf which is an Audi self study module. According to it the Sportback uses an air pressure sensor in each front door to deploy the airbags. So it contains the following warning, so looks like I won't be...
Hmm that looks very much like one of my pictures, I just bought a 4 MDF rings on Ebay, then used wood glue and screws to make a 36mm thick mounting ring. These are then screwed on from behind using the holes in the door from the original OEM speakers.
I have since painted them and used a...
I ordered my rings on Ebay (as I say in the thread) I then glued and screwed two together to get enough depth.
The biggest problem that I encountered was getting decent speaker cable into the doors for the mids. The door loom terminates on a plug and socket arrangement. So to get the speaker...
There is a company out there doing CANBUS modules that will give you the power up signal as well as speed pulse etc for aftermarket installs in CANBUS cars.
I don't have a link to hand but you should be able to Google it.

They are indeed 6.5" front mids, that is a Focal Utopia 6.5" Mid from the Mark 1 Utopia set.
I didn't have any issues with the mounting depth of the Focal Mid.
What I would say though is that it is a major PITA to get decent speaker runs in to the mids. The stock door loom is on a plug, so...
Here is their reply : - "No extension to the CAN-BUS interface just yet, is has been in the pipeline for a while now.."
That was a reply on 05/10/07 from UK Alpine Tech Support.

Been a bit busy, but the amp rack did get built but I didn't get round to any pics.
I've since gone active on the fronts and have upgraded the Alpine processor to a H701 and so I can have the fronts active. The boot build is a bit messy at the moment due to the change over of processor. I also...
If you have DSG there is a rather larger redundant hole in the firewall where the clutch pedal would go on a manual - that is where I routed mine.
Paul
Have you tried turning down the amp gains and the HU up.
I had a similar issue in my old Golf IV running an amp off of the stock HU with the ISO pre-out cable. Turning the wick down a little on the amps fixed it, just meant that you needed the volume a little higher on the HU not a bad thing as...
The Bose Sub is powered by the Bose Amp behing the trim panel on the otherside of the car. So on the 8P the sub only has speaker level connections.
You wouldn't believe how small the 6 channel Bose amp is.
Paul
You are going to need to supply an ignition switched supply to the HU and the stock system is power up by a CAN-BUS command when the ignition is switched on. The stock loom will only have a perminant power feed and earth connection.
Paul
That looks like my picture above ?
The Bose amp is rather feeble too and behind the oposite panel.
In the end as the space isn't there for anything decent I left mine in situ ( safe enough place to store them as any) and went IB with a couple of 7" sub in place of the rear speakers.
The amps...
I will keep the camera handy when the boot build starts tomorrow.
I will be spending a bit of time using the router (sp) first to get a perfect circle for the base and lid.

Morning peeps,

Starting pics original Bose 6 channel Amp Don't laugh too much :-
Original Bose Sub in its plastic box :-
Original Bose Rear Full range speaker :-
Rear 7" Subs that...
They did a nice job of the tweeter install. I'd like to do something similar but use the same material as the current A pillar. Currently I've cut mine into the stock tweeter grill and it doesn't look too bad just not as nice as yours.
Looks like they have installed them just below the side...
I am currently in the middle of my 8P install (3 door) and have had an interesting time.
Whilst there is space behind the rear boot panels - there isn't that much so I am going to loose the spacesaver and carry a couple of cans of tyre moose.
I decided to try a pair of 7" subs IB in the rear...
