Ok ive found the problem,it was the adapter lead,dynamic sounds have supplied me with the wrong one,i have the full bose lead to a half bose system,no wonder it didnt work.
Dont see why it wownt work then,but you will need to wire in a relay...if yours is like mine the stereo stays on until the key is removed?
If so theres how to on here,but like i said the a3s im unsure about...you may be able to tap into somewhere,but not for the a4 owners.

Ok today i fitted my kenwood stereo,and wire in a relay so it acts as factory,remove the key and unit powers off.
