SKC code alone will not be enough, and vcds will not easily allow the swap to happen. You will need to read full immo data including SKC, component security info and mac and power class, transfer all to the new cluster then align the immobiliser to the vehicle.
I can program the immobiliser on...
These clusters are relatively easy to program in, I can usually code the immobiliser side by post for future reference and then just some vcds adaptions at the car to finish up. Would be interested in seeing the inside of the damaged cluster. I had similar on a skoda octavia this week left a...
What model year is the A3? Thanks for the mention Sandra.
I'm based in hull but do travel nationwide when feasable, I have all the tools to supply cut and program a remote or non remote key.
Feel free to pm your location.

As with everyone else... id always advise a spare key if your messing about with the only key. The stress and cost involved are far higher if you lose them all.
I love these threads. Being an auto locksmith I can tell you a lot more facts than news scares. I can disperse a good few myths too. Obviously key snatching will warrant your secondary device useless.
I'm currently installing ghost immobilisers by autowatch. There is no fob. No relays. No wire...
Where abouts are you? I am able to check remote and reprogram with vcds and if remote is found faulty have all the tools to supply and program a new remote excluding 8v chassis at the moment. Vcds will reprogram if it's not faulty and can usu all pinpoint any faults if there is one.
I would suggest if you dont already have one, get a spare key. once you have a spare key you could attempt a repair on your existing remote. I could help you with either if you are local to hull. I could attempt a repair by post.
They dont use an obd key. they use an obd key programmer. they carry a blank key and program it to the vehicle. i can program these keys in approx 2 minutes myself including opening the door without smashing a window.

Ecu and cluster milage is very easy to change despite what everyone else is saying. I offer these services for genuine reasons, so am in a good position to tell you this.
Early 8p clocks failed often so maybe its been replaced. Maybe somebody has swapped an engine but the milage should stay to...
if the original key worked since cluster was fitted it would still work now even after the spare failed to start the car. whoever fitted the cluster should have programmed both keys really.
would need to test keys key reader and maybe interogate the cluster tonfind out whats going on.
i have...
phil havent we spoke already? if you send both clusters i can clone them yes but its not easy and the tools are not cheap. my prices are quite high because of this.
if the spare key works fine then likely the clock has corrupted or the immo chip damaged as suggested. I can test chip, reader (unlikely to be damaged) and clocks if required. I can also supply and reprogram new chips, and program clocks etc.
