Hey Warren,
the car i belive is 200ps + Wald conversion
my understanding is that the WALD conversion was carried out in germany before being inported to the uk although the car is not registered as an import (not quite sure how that works)
I think it is just a remap - unfortunatley have...
will have a look - got a nice drive to brighton and back to look forward too today, will take some more pix of the car!
just cant get over the performance and that wasnt coming from a 1.2 fiesta - my cup was nippy but this is in a different league! couldnt be more pleased with the car!
had a great drive down from keighley in west yorkshire all the way down to eastbourne, just past the brighton
so rapid with the WALD conversion - just pulls and pulls, suprised how effortlessly quick it is to be honest - is a struggle keeping it below 100 on the motorway, have to restrain...
I am now the proud owner of a 2006 Candy white GTI with loads of extra's:
drove from east sussex to west yorkshire to pick it up (then drove back with it the same day)
first thoughts of the car (bearing in mind when i put the deposit on the car i had never driven the Golf or a car with DSG)...
Thanks! (forgot to mention has a MFSW)
cant wait to take her for a spin - maybe foolish putting a deposit down on a car that i havnt seen / driven yet but knew it was the spec i wanted and didnt want it to get sold before i got back to the uk
paying 13k for it - bit over budget and could have...
Thanks for everyones input!
have just put a deposit down on a Candy White Golf GTI (with WALD conversion) 240bhp
15k
2006
xenons
18' monza II's
color coded
6 cd changer
electric sunroof
5 door
DSG
paid a little over odds but has everything i want and is from a VW garage so comes with 1...
so sounds like it could be worth holding out for a model that has is around 11k-12k, do like the sound of the VW extended warranty though - complete peice of mind for 9 more months and will probably be able to extend it for another year when it runs out.
i agree, 18's look much better! at the...
cheapest edition 30 ive seen is 14.5k and to be honest 13k is really stretching my budget + insurance costs will go up a fair bit since its group 18 not 17.
think ill be content with the power of a remapped GTI, wont remap for a while though until i get used the GTI
just a thought - but could get one similar age and mileage for 11k, ok so no leather (not bothered about that) no VW warranty
maybe im better off spending that 2k and getting:
xenon light conversion
retro-fit VW Sat Nav
upgrade Stereo
Buy a warranty from VW
probably still have some change...
I think ive found a VW 2.0t FSI GTI DSG!!!
not sure if it is too pricey but is the perfect spec
2005 30k miles grey
light pack
winter pack
VW extended warranty (9 months left)
VW Sat nav unit (similar to the RNS-E)
Golf edition 30 alloys
upgraded Stereo with 6 cd changer
Full leather interior...
I personally love the way the GTI looks but the rest of the golf range i think look quite average and would much prefer an S-Line,
apart from the S3 i dont think any of the A3's look better than the GTI - again completely subjective.
as for the power delivery - have just come from a 172 cup...
I do think the Golf GTI looks fantastic, have been toying with getting a Golf GT TDI 170 but there are so few around with lowish mileage and would prefer to get it from VW so i can have the 1 year warranty
also think any MK5 golf looks pretty average unless in GTI trim - then looks great...
this is very true - unfortunatley this is the next best thing when your 6000 miles away from home.
cant wait to start test driving - going to have them booked the day i fly home, going to be a bit tired - 16 hour flight with stop overs....
hi all,
sorry this is another what should i buy thread from me, i promise it will be the last for a while!!
apart from running costs with the GTI and 2.0T FSI would i have any other benefits going for say the 2.0 TDI 170?
I love the Golf GTI's the only thing putting me off is running costs -...
am considering the mk5 Golf GTI,
worth it?
insurance is a bit more expensive than the A3 2.0 TFSI but i can get one with lower mileage for cheaper..
i thought i would definitley get a diesel but have loved the mk5 GTI, reckon i would really enjoy it
how do these compare?
damn!!!!
would have snapped that up in a heartbeat!!
to be honest are tricky to find 170's with lowish mileage and with half decent extra's
am going to test drive a 120d m sport - see how i get on with them, not going to totally rule them out but would probably prefer an A3
