Thanks for the post. Ran VAGCOM and it said the rear sensor was faulty, so jacked the rear up and checked the links and it was all fine. Free moving and all good. Any other suggestions before I bite the bullet for £148 for the sensor.....?

My stalk is 8P0 953 513F and was told that's from a 2010 car - does that sound right?

Thanks - I had the s4 cab 10 years ago and didn't bother changing my user name! I've been through S3, Rs3 and now back to an A3 140d as a second car, so looking to get it looking right!

I have VCDS so the reset isn't an issue. I just wanted to know what I was aiming for when I started stripping the dash trim!

A mate has exactly the same issue. Can someone post links to how to get to the drivers side motor and also what needs to be done in VAGCOM as I will be resetting it!? TIA.

My Sachs was rubbish and lasted about 10k miles max. I personally wouldnt recommend one. But plenty of others have been fine............
