A3 headlights misting badly then freezing..

I'd get the headlight off and indoors to check for any other gaps/cracks it could be getting into. If it's on the back of the light get it sealed up with silicon. Also, check the caps are sealing properly on the unit. Whilst you've got it indoors ensure to dry it out too!

    5th gear "whine"

My car has stopped the whining noise whilst changing into 5th. It all stopped after I had the car remapped (most like coincidental) Or pushing more power/dyno run may have done something?

How many 2.0 tdi (BKD) owners have had to replace the turbo?

Is it over boosting and dropping into limp mode? If so then I would, if not then wait until it starts to die.

How many 2.0 tdi (BKD) owners have had to replace the turbo?

04 plate 8P1 - replaced at 132k. Was standard but after the new turbo I did an EGR delete and remap.

    For all you EGR lovers

It's quite scary what people will pay another person to do to their cars... So glad you got it all sorted out though! :icon_thumright:

    For all you EGR lovers

Only £225 for the full remap including EGR delete! And when I removed mine it ran fine, a bit smoother to be honest. As for the flat spot, mine always had that until I hit about 3000rpm. But the flat spot has now been removed and I've seen a good 40bhp difference pull at that rpm. Well worth...

This one is from a petrol but it will show you where I mean... You should be able to see the nut spinning by putting your head pretty much on the drivers side headlight and shining a light at the pulley on the compressor.. Just please keep your hands away from the belt whilst the engine is...

    No Cold Air :(

Try clearing the fault code and then rescan a couple of days later to see if it's back (or even after testing the climate control afterwards). Have a look under the bonnet and you should see the air con compressor. The clutch is built in, in the back so you wont be able to see this moving...

2004 2.0 TDI BKD Turbo loss of power

As SmithyAG said, did it sort itself out after being turned off and back on? My A3 used to do that when I was doing motorways trips and then it became more frequent. I had vagcom plugged in and confirmed that the turbo was overboosting. Then the turbo started making a police siren noise so...
