`left dipped headlight` but bulb and fuse are okay

So I took the car to Audi this morning. They changed the bulb and all was fine. You have no idea how stupid I feel right now (I have a degree in electronics for f** sake). The question remains, why was there no 12V when I measured in the first place? And why didn't it work when I replaced the...

`left dipped headlight` but bulb and fuse are okay

I seen very similar problems pop up many times in US forums but those always appear to occur with xenons. In fact a class action lawsuit is being filed against audi for those cases because eventhough Audi are aware of the recurring issue they keep charging customers for (very expensive!) repairs...

`left dipped headlight` but bulb and fuse are okay

The VAGCOM fault scan says that there is an open connection or a short on the left headlight. I replaced the bulb with a new one (that I measured so I know for a fact the new one is okay) but that didn't help. I measured the voltage on the bulb, that was 0.3V (I am guessing this is the measuring...

`left dipped headlight` but bulb and fuse are okay

My 2005 A3 8p with normal halogen bulbs has the left headlight not working since today. The DIS shows the `left dipped headlight` error. When I went to replace the bulb I dicovered that there was nothing wrong with it. I checked the fuse and that is also okay. I tried disabling the cold...

who has had the best Audi Dealer courtesy car?? :)

Damn you brits getting all these excellent courtesy cars. Where I live (Netherlands) we never get a free car. You can hire one at a reduced rate. And even then you get crappy cars. The best I got was a A3 1.6 but usually it is a very low spec VW Polo or Seat Ibiza or Seat Arosa with a 1.2 or 1.4...

    Post your rattles (and fixes)

But don't buy a (T)FSI because they still sound like a diesel!

    Super or Unleaded

Here on the mainland V-power is NOT ron98! It is in fact ron95 (Shell claim 96) with some additives. I have always found my 2.0FSI to run better on 98, not so much faster but much much smoother. I used to always get Shell Super Plus (ron98), but when they replaced the ron98 with V-power I...

    Questions/Concerns... A3 FSI 2.0 Sport

The "tickety" sound is normal. Both the 2.0FSi and Turbo have it, although some engines seem to be louder than others. Mine has done it from new. I does bug me but since it is characteristic for FSI injectors and nothing can be done about it I try to ignore it. The engine is very quiet from...

    New Bluetooth Car Kit

In the thread about installing a car kit without causing dashboard holes I promised to put up a few pics of the Bury CC9060 bluetooth kit that I installed yesterday. For those who don't know it, it is a bluetooth hands free kit with a touch screen. It can be fully voice operated and it...

    GSM Dash Board Holes....

I just fitted a bury cc9060 bluetooth kit to my car. When I bought the car I had a non-bluetooth Nokia (3510i) and the car kit for that was mounted on the dash, next to the radio/aircon panel. They used three ****** screws to fix it to the dash! Although it looked fine, I knew I would never be...

    Suzuka grey S3 Build thread

I agree that having no sensors look better, cleaner lines. That's the reason I dind;t tick then wehn I orderd my sportback but I do think Audi parking sensors don't look that bad. They are nice and flush and painted. Most other brands have big black pimples sticking out, now that's nasty!

    What gearbox and Possible Problem!

If you have a 2.0FSI engine it will be an old fashioned tiptronic gearbox, If you have the 2.0T it will be the DSG. Unfortunately the 2.0FSI was never produced with DSG.

    Facelift A3/S3 service postion wipers!!!

I think this only works BEFORE you remove the keys. So the procedure is: - Turn off engine - Flick the wiper stalk down - Remove keys

    rear aero wiper?

Is the standard rear wiper not an aero? I allways assumed it was, since the front wiper are. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't be surprised if the rear wiper isn't an aero. I have never been very happy about the rear wiper. Contrary to the front wipers (which are fantastic, the best I have...

    2.0T with s-tronic AND quattro ?!

Yep, the taxman will be waiting. They'll tax us based on what the car + options would have cost in Holland. Options are often twice the price you pay in Germany. Sometimes it seems that the whole EU and open markets thing only applies to us if the government can make some extra money...

    2.0T with s-tronic AND quattro ?!

Prices in Germany are a lot lower than in Holland :-( The basic S3 with no options costs 49.885 Euro here, Sportback is 51.000. Tick a few small options and you are soon up to 60.000! By the way, the S3 can only be had with 6 gear manual here. I guess an S-tronic version would be at least 2.000...

    2.0T with s-tronic AND quattro ?!

I was just messing around with the Audi configurator on the Dutch Audi site and I noticed that you can now have the 2.0T with both S-tronic AND Quattro. I always thought it was one or the other except with the 3.2 enigne. Something to do with the difference of traversal/longitudinal mounting of...

Squeaky noise from engine on start up!...

Mine does that. More like a metallic rattle sort of sound actually. It has done it from new. It hasn't gotten better or worse since I bought the car three and a half years ago. I believe it is just because of movement of the engine.
