You are absolutely right. It all comes down to personal preference.
I've always wanted a V8 S4 but imagine the running costs to be very high. The 2.0t was a little in characterful for my liking so maybe the V6 is a happy medium.

From when I was looking into tuning options when I had my 2.0t 280 is unrealistic without a HPFP.
V6's as standard come with 250 bhp so onto a winner already.
I've seen a B8 3.2 that looks good and has slightly more power with lower tax so will have a look at that too.
Ben
To tune the 2.0 turbo there is a massive cost to it. The exhaust, intake and hpfp plus a map will cost almost £3k. Second hand parts are rarely available too.
Ben
Cheers for the reply.
R32 is a good shout but I need the practicality of an estate. I do like instant throttle response of an n/a engine and the noise of a V6.
Ben
Hi all,
I've had a 2.0T fsi in the past which ended up going back to the dealer due to engine failure. It was the Quattro version which had been remapped but still didn't feel as quick as I would have liked.
I'm now looking for another B7 Avant and have seen a nice V6 version. Does anyone...
The car had low miles (69k) and all services bar one were done at Audi. It was just very poorly repaired in the past. I just put it down to my bad luck.
I'm on the lookout for an S4 but will probably go back to BMW.
Ben
Still waiting to hear if it will be written off. Starting to get impatient as it looks like it will but all parties seem to be dithering.
What to replace it with?
Ben
The garage took it apart and that's when the fun started.
The oil pump and turbo have been replaced at some point before my ownership. There were three bolts missing from the oil pump. The toothed pulley that attaches to the crankshaft that drives the chain on the oil pump was welded in place...
Found out from the garage my engine is goosed.
2.0 tfsi with 76k and full service history, mostly Audi. The sump has been dropped and there is swarf on there and the top end is bone dry. Consensus is a new engine.
So, what engine shall I replace it with? I was thinking of getting the garage...
The car has been recovered to a garage for them to investigate. Fault codes were camshaft sensor and knock sensor (obviously).
Hopefully a pressure test will point to either blocked pick up pipe or faulty oil pump and there is no too end damage.
Ben
Cheers for the replies.
Driveway is completely flat, here is the sound clip:
