Lots of guys selling their B7's.

Same happened with B5's and B6's; people go newer or different.

Would you buy an S4 Salvage?

Check over everything religiously like with any other car really and if it seems fine buy it.

Engine mounts , Left and Right hand differences.

Yeah, they were from Audi and cost far too much money haha no doubt they are cheaper elsewhere but firstly didn't particularly trust cheap engine mounts and secondly couldn't wait for postage at the time. Going from hydraulic mounts they give a tiny bit more shake but if they're shot anyway it's...

Engine mounts , Left and Right hand differences.

Easy way to check is look down the engine bay at them. B5 RS4 mounts are a good fit and forget upgrade for anyone with hydraulic mounts.

    Does this FBSW look familiar?

Share more VW and Skoda parts than Lambo, guess when we think about it they're all technically re-branded VW parts as it's the VW group.

Does tyre shine cause tyre dry rot / cracks and how to avoid it?

Totally agree with this, in all years of using tyre shine they've never looked anywhere near as bad as what's been seen in old untreated tyres.

    2006 b7 1.9tdi to 2.0tdi conversion

@Gazwould mate, with you on them being bomb proof and can't find any information suggesting otherwise.

    2006 b7 1.9tdi to 2.0tdi conversion

Fair play mate, would personally say for more power may be worth looking into swapping turbo and injectors (injectors if it's 115) then mapping rather than engine. Just for reference my 1.9tdi made similar power to what a 2.0tdi would have made with the same stuff bolted on.

    2.0 TDi 170 PD - What Oil?

Either is fine, regular changes are key. If you don't plan on changing oil often, don't conduct much spirited driving and don't mind thicker oil 5w30 is fine. Probably find more garages use 5w30 as it's more universal but more enthusiasts want the lowest first number and highest second of which...

Totally agree, that's why 5w40 is suggested.

Information signed off by VW like the handbook which says use 505.01 or 507.

    2.0 TDi 170 PD - What Oil?

Anything 505.01 or 507 will be fine :icon thumright: As a general rule of thumb most 5w40's and 5w30's meet this but just check the back of the container or read online first, personally prefer the former which ironically by definition can not be 507 so this whole it's got to be 507 thing which...

    2.0 TDi 170 PD - What Oil?

Starting to wonder why people don't have Asda plastered on car's in favour of Castrol, Millers and the like. Some of the best regarded oil isn't 507, will leave @Gazwould to do some more research into why.

    2.0 TDi 170 PD - What Oil?

None of us are likely to have catastrophic failure due to oil choice and your continued want to post biased information unrelated to grade just referencing what what test it passed says all we need to know.

    2.0 TDi 170 PD - What Oil?

Oh dear it's the oil police again :busted cop: Regular changes are key, personally only use 5w40 or 0w40 and go for branded stuff as I'm a snob :icon thumright: can tell me supermarket oil, fuel or whatever is fine as it meets "standards" still not using it, each to their own, wouldn't run 5w30...
