B4 and B6 can take - 40mm .
I've got B4 ( they're slightly uprated anyway ) with Eibach Pro kit springs on a VAG running 17's and I wouldn't want any firmer !
S line are horrible suspension set ups around these years , trouble is Bilstein B4 is OE but slightly uprated , so a slightly uprated S line damper will be as you now know not good .
B8 are even more uprated and harder and H&R springs lower again , good for different parts of the country .

The hex shaft replacement isn't preventative maintenance as it's primarily a #2 balancer shaft keyway issue through poor fit of not being hexagonal , deep enough and hard enough , then there's the chain tensioner etc .
Very similar to the JASO FC spec 2T 'white paper' hugely flawed when those in the know use mineral low ash FB spec !

The interval is bad but the oil is superior because it's a LongLife oil it also gets the top two oil basestocks groups real synthetics PAO and Esters , also the additive package concentration goes up so more of everything , anti oxidents , friction modifiers , detergents and dispersants etc.
