I don't quite understand. Is the ECU broken or the speed sensor? I know that the faulty speed sensor is common and can be replaced. I think that Audi had a recall in USA in 2009 to change that sensor.

M7R is right! that's what I also found out. You may check on the right side of the spoiler for wet spots and check the oil level. In some cases the coolant got into the engine and mixed with the oil.
