Seems excessive to me. Our 1.9 TDI 130 wore the fronts down to 4mm after 8k. That was mainly due to the power delivery of the diesel and a heavy front end.

Pretty sure it's been done. Try a search as it might be in the B6 section. You'll need to find a set of split folding seats from a breakers though as there are too many differences to modify a non folding set to fold.

Wasn't there a thread like this a couple of years back. Worth checking to see what the outcome was on that one.

I was very happy with the Goodyear Excellence we used on our FWD 1.9TDI. £143 a corner in 235/40/18. Quite surprised how much more expense the 18" tyres are over the 17" we used as I paid under a £100 per tyre.

The main issue is rolling radius and offset. Don't think that the A4 ever came with 15" wheels but I guess you should be able to calculate the correct offset. Also worth checking with the insurance co and there have been cases of cover being denied when running with non-standard wheels.

I'm not going to pay asking price if I go for it. It has leather, satnav, bose and a few other things. It also has almost 30k miles in only 18 months and Parkers pricing is based on the car having 20k so I reckon I'd offer £17.5k and go from there.

I'm looking at a Dolphin Grey B7 Avant 2.0TDI 170 Quattro with the reg VO57 XBT. It's up for a tenner under £20k which is about 2k over Parkers top book. Just wondering if anyone on here owned it and if it had any issues. TIA Dave

I've driven a couple of 170 Quattros and on my normal roads I only get around 32mpg compared with about 40mpg from our FWD 1.9 130 m14rts, what sort of journeys do you do - length, type of roads?

Get your tracking checked! My B6 still does it on very frosty roads but it should not do it on dry or even normal wet roads.

Not sure about that. I know plenty of people who've done it with bikes. I guess you need to ensure the ownership doesn't pass to the insurance co. and then see what they'll offer you as a settlement.

Doesn't look too bad. If it's written off then it looks financial rather than structural. Why not buy it back from the insurance company and get it fixed yourself?

Really! I got 30k from a set of Bridgestone RE720s on our previous car - a Bora V5. I was shocked by the wear rate on our A4. Part of it I put down to initially not being used to the way the diesel develops it's power but even now I'll probably see just over 20k from a set.

It was checked and was within tolerances. After getting new tyres and aware of what the bumps did, I had no problems. The tyre fitter commented that this type of wear was becoming more common with all the speed humps being built.
