    It could be the spring on the back of the pedal, I have had one snap before! So be ready for a trip to your local scrappy. I believe other people had similar problems aswell. The other thing that happens is that a weld gives way on the back of the panel, and bends the actuator shaft.

    No you shouldn't need to, new gasket new seal should be fine.
