Audi A4 1.8T Quattro Remap (BFB)

Rick at Unicorn did a great job of remapping my 225 Mk1 TT a few years ago but he doesn't do the 1.8T's anymore. Too many cars turning up with too many issues. For the distance you want to travel I would recommend Performance Torque. They are very good and was big in the 1.8T tuning community...

    A4 3.0 tdi power loss/hits a wall ideas?

If you suspect the DPF log the DPF pressure sensor. This measures pressure on the engine side of the DPF. You will soon see if it's blocked. If the DPF is blocked and you try and rev it hard you could end up damaging the engine. Try logging EGT's as well. These will be high if the DPF is blocked...

3.0 tdi mechanical manuals, cant get alternator out!

I bought it off Fleabay. Just found the part number and looked for the best price. They are not handed so will fit either side. I fitted a Meyle item. There are Lemforder and Febi items available. Any of these would be a similar quality to the OE part. Had a quick look...

3.0 tdi mechanical manuals, cant get alternator out!

Could feel a vibration through the car when the engine was idling. No other issues so I checked for faults and got an error code for the drivers side engine mount. Upon removing the inner arch liner and looking at it I found it had pretty much broken apart in 3 or 4 pieces. The aluminium...

3.0 tdi mechanical manuals, cant get alternator out!

Putting the lock carrier in the service position is the recommended way of doing this. A lot of jobs you can find alternative ways of doing them that may save some time but as you have found can be difficult. With the front opened up the job to change the alternator is a doddle. I had to change...

    Audi died on me

I am not sure how OBDeleven works compared to VCDS. Fuel pressure should be about 40 bar 4000kpa at idle. When it's cranking it will probably be a bit less but with VCDS you get specified and actual readings. Not sure if you get the specified reading with OBDeleven .

    Audi died on me

Can you hear the in tank pump start when the ignition is turned on?. Boost pipes off won't stop a car starting. Is the Tacho registering when the engine is turning?. If it is the crank sensor is probably good. How did you decide the fuel was good. You need a lot of pressure in the high pressure...

    Outside temp gauge

Due to the placement of the sensor if you are in standing traffic or park the car the sensor can be heated up by the radiator resulting in higher than actual temps being seen. As soon as the car is moving ambient air will cool it and it should read correctly.

I have foolishly reused the same gaskets after cleaning intake manifold - will i damage the engine?

You won't damage the engine but there will be several air leaks on the intake which is what is causing the running issues. Don't use the cars and do the job properly when the new gaskets arrive.

New 2.0 Tdi owner could use some help regarding MPG

Check / change the PAS fluid. You will probably find it's either low level or the original fluid. You need the green CHF fluid, this should cure the whine. 43mpg for the age of the car along with it's size isn't that bad. The issue you have with intermittent boost is probably related wit the...

    No power a4 b7 tdi

Well you now know why it was cheap. MAF unplug, Code read and checking for boost leaks in the hoses are where you start. After that there are many things that can be wrong with these engines. Certainly not one of VAG's better powerplants.

3.0 tdi transmission shudder on full torque

So the noise is coming from the DMF/clutch as the map has exceeded the clutch capacity. The 240mm clutches fitted to the B7 3.0 TDI AFAIK are just a slightly revamped version of what is fitted to the high power manual petrol cars. Flattening down the torque peak doesn't really make that much...
