£171 for first oil change

How many of you had your brake fluid changed on 2nd service?

Audi have been telling me it's not due until 3 years after the cars built. Seems odd.

Just had my 2nd service done, oil/filter and pollen filter. No brake fluid until year 3, think plugs are year 5!

£220 for the 2nd service compared to Audi's £365-£440 depending on the dealer. (All logged on the Audi online system as well).

Hitchin Audi asking for £405 for first service. I expected somewhere between 200-250. Just for an oil change £400 is a lot

That IS taking the P, mine from the main dealer was about £202...it's just an oil/filter change and a few checks!

That's reassuring, that's who I'm buying from :tearsofjoy: sure I can wangle a deal though.

Just called them... and gave them some of the other quotes I got from other dealers. Managed to get the price down to £239. It's booked for the 23rd.

Well done Asif good result!
But this is just so unacceptable on so many levels, £405 to £239 is hardly a small discount and appears like that they are vastly overpriced to start with or happy to lose money to get your custom. I feel sure that they are still covering costs with the lower estimate but they just don't appear to expect us to challenge them. I find it really disrespectful that they can quote those sort of prices, they should have a fair and transparent price supported by a proper business model. I get that we have to pay for the glass showroom and the coffee etc and that goes with premium car but come on.

For your interest,I paid just over half of your final cost from a very good indy in Hitchin for my first service and I have no wish to reopen the issues about warranty, goodwill and log books etc as it is for each of us to decide.

I would also say that it was this appalling attitude to their pricing that stopped me from buying any further new cars from Hitchin Audi and also not getting my cars serviced there.
Not sure where you are based but my daughter has just picked up a 17 A1 from Bedford Audi at progress park and they have been really brilliant, chalk and cheese to our Hitchin experience and only other side of Clophill.

I found Bedford useless trying to arrange an extended test drive, told me I could have one then changed their mind, messed me about so have bought from Hitchin.

There you go , all very subjective! Hope you have better experience then I, but looking at Asif comments not much seems to have changed

Today was a really annoying day. I have been calling a lot of dealers for the past 2 days and the lowest price I got was £380 and I saw this topic on the forum and called the dealers and most of them didn't want to budge on the price. Only reason I'm going to hitchin is because they are the cheapest.
It's really bad to think we pay the premium for the cars and they still over price service and everything else and have a big gap to negotiate. They really need to fix this up.

Don't worry when the car is out of warranty they give you a low fixed price . The dealer told me this is because Audi give a discount. I said to them , don't you mean they surcharge if you are still in warranty!
No comment from dealer .

Why not go to an Audi specialist mate? As said, my 2nd with a pollen filter ws only £220 so it will be less than that.

Yeah, that's what they told me also.

Seems mental waiting 3 years for brake fluid and 5 for plugs! Air filter also not necessary until year 3! Have they seen the state of the roads these days?

lol years back I never changed brake fluid at all, or oil yearly on my older cars! Just remember waiting until it was black and then doing it :)

Bridgend Audi, well impressed with their prices.. just had a quote.
On fixed servicing, 10,000 miles or 12 months.

Oil change £155
Inspection Service £251

Plus the £35 pollen filter on the first inspection service, which I will do myself.

So if oil change & Inspection Service fall at the same time then its £406? i had my 1st MOT & 1st Brake fluid change with oil & inspection for that price at Taunton Audi.

Nope, the inspection service price is with oil. Interim is £155, major is £251 basically.

Got it... cheers mate. Would be so much easier if Audi sorted out their descriptions & terminology!

Tell me about it, each centre seems to use different terminology and some seem to be trying to pull our legs because we are in 'S' cars when the true fact is, servicing is the same deal.

Question folks, is there any easy way to find out if I'm on fixed or variable servicing or do I need to give the dealer a call?

I'm on a 6k mileage deal so fixed would be best for me I think.

Check your MMI, variable will set the inspection service between 16k and 19k from new. Otherwise your oil change would be 9k, then inspection at 19k ish (early to give you warning).

It's best to phone, I would say there is a 99% chance it is on variable as that's what Audi do now. I asked for it to be changed, the dealer said it would cost for me to put it in just to change the intervals. The advisor said that they will adjust it for free to fixed if I book it in at 10,000 miles for its first service.

Where abouts in the MMI would I find it? I probably will ring them to double check anyway to be 100% sure though.

Go onto the main menu, car.. it takes you to the drive select page. Use the left tab button and on the left you will have things like servicing, driver assistance aids etc which can all be set up. It will be under servicing. You can adjust the brightness of your ambient lighting and alike in these menus.

Cool cheers, yeah I turned the background lighting up yesterday as it was turned right down.

Found it, says next inspection service due in 19,000 miles, 719 days so I'm guessing variable not fixed! Think I'll be getting that changed.

Yes that will be variable. It decides between 16,000 and 19,000 for the inspection service, based on how it's driven.

Ask your dealer if they will change it free of charge, otherwise it will be just as easy to just book it in for a service in time for 10,000 miles and then they can change it to fixed for you then.

TBH it'll be more a year than 10,000 miles, that'll take me over a year lol

What does it say to next oil change?

There should be both oil change and inspection service listed.

Then it will ask for a service at 12 months. The car should have an oil change at least once every year, if you aren't doing the mileage for that to happen then it needs to be on fixed. That way if you don't do the mileage, it still has an oil change after 12 months!

Just done mine for the DIY price of £44 - just about to post new thread with pics etc. Obviously that doesnt include the dealer service history etc but i'm keeping my car for many many years & the savings over the years will be huge!

Nothing, it had no dates/miles for oil change but says inspection service due in 19,000 miles.

I spoke to Audi today who said just take it in at 9,000 or after a year and get them to change it over then. I may see if they can do it before then though.

£160 for an oil change, oil filter, inspection, healthcheck @ Wearside Audi.

Had an offer on the service plan that if I paid £360 in total it would include todays service and the next major service (which is £319 normally).

Quite happy with that

First year Audi main dealer service cost me £219 which I didn't think was bad for an RS3.

@Jimbo10 Was that for an S3? I am needing my first service and usually use Newcastle Audi but will happily drive to Wearside as they are about the same distance from me.

No, mine is a 1.4 COD. I would've thought Newcastle would be the same as they're all part of the Lookers group (Newcastle, Wearside, Middlesbrough).

The Wearside dealership has just moved premises. Everything is brand new, it's quite nice.
