Thinking about upgrading the alloys on my 3.0 TDI shortly but am undecided between 19"s or 20"s.
I am already lowered on Eibach Pros so don't want any arch problems.
I know the setup for 19"s is 255/35/19, what is the ideal setup for for 20"s?

Also would be nice to hear what the ride is like on the 20"s.

Hey there woody. I'm not too good in terms of wheel set up but all I can say is that I slapped a set of 19" rotor alloys on my A3 8p which is lowers on 55mm H&R springs all round and I don't have any problems with scraping the wheel arches so I guess you could go with 20s safely

Pics are for reference should you need it.
Hope I helped a little
Good luck buddy

Interested in this myself.

Ahaha I thought that too. Must've been a typo. Mind you 30"s would look about right lol

Anyone know which are the best sizes tyres to go for with 20"s?
Is 255/30/20 ok?

I'm going to be fitting 245/30/20 on my 9x20 as it is only a 2mm difference in size compared with the factory 245/40/18.

From another forum might be of help, I'm not a fan of streched tyres.

I'm not too sure on the tyre stretch idea. tyres aren't supposed to be driven on sidewalls. I know somebody who did it on his MK3 golf and they literally blew off. now I wouldn't want to be cruising in a B8 A4 on the motorway in that situation, I doubt anybody else on here does either. just my opinion though ;)

245 40 20 should be better. ..depends on the rim width...

I'm running 245 30 20 on 9j ET35 20inch rim

Have you got any close up pics of your set up ? ie are they streched on a 9j ? I did a trial fit with my wheels at the weekend with 24mm spacers bringing the offset to et36 & they poked a bit so think I need an offset closer to 40. I haven't ordered my tyres or Adaptors yet either & don't want to run into clearance issues.
