Hey guys. I am driving 2016 a4 2.0tdi. Had my timing belt done and ecu update (recall) few months ago in Audi and since then car makes a ticking noise when accelerating from low rpm. Before TB job engine was extremely smooth and refined at least in the cabin. Outside noise at idle is the same I guess, typical diesel.
I have also noticed that the ticking is less audiable right after start when driving with cold engine. Pretty much non existing when engine is in dpf burn mode. This makes me think that there is some fuel/ air ratio problem. Has anyone had similar case? Can you recommend any Diesel engine specialist in South West area?

It could be not quite correctly set timing (crankshaft/camshaft) so you hear valves hitting pistons. I had this problem once before. The sound is kinda metallic.

I have visited 3 garages so far. 2 x Audi and 1x independent VAG. They all say it is ok and normal... so I doubt there is any physical contact between parts. It is more combustion process (which still could be result of incorrect timing). I am thinking it might be fault of ECU update. Some users report similar symptoms after ecu recall actions in the past. I am planning to revert ecu update sometime soon.
