Hi all

Anyone had issues with drive belts on these engines.

I recently chenged the belt as the old one had been half eaten some how.

Was ok but I noticed there was alot of movement in the tensioner.

Now it seems the tensioner is knocking against its stop on idle. Dissappears with revs.

My thinking is the vibration damper is going out of shape?

Just interested to know if anyone's had this issue, before I start diving in to a big job blind.

Cheers

I would not run it again until the tensioner is replaced

As Zafi says, you don't want to risk the belt jumping a tooth or two, BIG bucks if it does.

I'm referring to the drive/auxiliary belt. Nothing to do with the cam belt.

Come across the possible culprit which can cause excessive tensioner movement

Alternator clutch pulley??

Hope it's this seems as it's much more accessible to get to.
