2005 A6 2.0 TDI swirl flap motor defective

Hi everyone new here and I have an issue I bought an A6, year 2005, 170.000 miles driving fine except the emissions light comes on and off frequently. When it was connect up its said swirl flap motor defective!! Can someone tell me away around this if there is one. And is it expensive??

I'm not sure mate, I brought in back to the garage I bought it in and he said it's saying swirl flap motor defective? He had a laptop and a small black box. Not a big tech guy so I'm sure Darren92
