Hi All

I have seen a thread about this on here before, but can't find it now!

My 63 plate only has 2000 miles of the warranty left so want to get booked in asap if I do have an issue.

Apart from the height of summer, the engine only gets up to 90 degrees when accelerating on the motorway, when driving around town it takes forever to reach temparature. if I am going down a long hill or sat in traffic the temp will start cooling down quite quickly from 90 in the middle down to about 70.

Is this normal for the engine, or do I definitely need the thermostat or something else looking at?

I do sometimes find myself turning up the heater as I'm feeling cold in traffic, suggesting when heating may be getting colder as the engine is cooling down. this could just be in my head though!

thanks

Mine is the same needs like 20 mins maybe more(slow traffic)to reach 90 otherwise on 3-4 mins at 50mph or more is up there.Adi

Thanks. If you then sit in traffic does it start going down again to just over 70?

I run with more than half of my radiator blanked off.
Audi said it was normal for the modern high efficiency engines to run cool.
