2016 8V A3/S3 Facelift Rumours

It doesn't matter if most people won't haggle, that means there is more room for those of us who do. Some cars are in huge demand so are unlikely to be discounted but on most cars they have some leeway. Salesmen get commission on each car and the dealership gets massive amounts for hitting targets, that's why you see a lot of pre registered cars at certain times of the year.
Another option to get a discount is tell the salesman you are flexible with when you need the car as getting it into another month or quarter can help them.
Don't expect salesmen to call you back unless you have spent some time with them and talked numbers, think how many people they see who just want to look at the cars and get a test drive.
If you can't get the deal you want, walk away. There are plenty of dealers around.

Exactly ^^

Salesman also don't necessarily get their commission for just selling 'New' cars either.....

My salesman in Audi Stirling told me that although between them all the dealership had sold over 200 new Audis for the 1st March....that they weren't getting any of the commission gained from these sales until they had met a 'Used Car Sales' target of x7 each by the end of the month....this is obviously an incentive to get rid of the new trade in stock.

Dear Jonathan, FYI..... Timings Pricing and specification guide Early May 2016 Open for ordering Early May 2016 Start of production (free specification) Build week 26 (July 2016) Market Introduction Mid July 2016 First customer deliveries Late July 2016 Regards

Just had a call from my dealer (Cardiff Audi) originally ordered car end of Feb, told build week 22 (end of May) with a delivery of July. They have told me that Audi have now removed the orders for this build week due to the facelift.

They said that Audi will try and get the prefacelift for me but in the likely event they won't it will be a facelift and they will match the price (of which I had a good discount). I am going in later to confirm details, however my order was for a S3 Saloon and I am now contemplating the sportback as it looks pretty good in those released images.

Personally I don't both to haggle for my new cars. My current A3 is my ninth and all have been purchased from my local dealer and from the same salesmen. He is now a Specialist Sales Manager and deals with fleets and models like the A8 and R8 but as I was one of his original customers when he first started he is still quite happy to deal with me as well.
I know full well that when it come to trade in time I will get a good trade in price from him and around 9-10% discount on the new car without even asking. It also means I have built up a good relationship with him and a lot of the other staff at the dealers including service. If I need some help at any stage one of the master technician will always help me and at no cost.
To me price is not the only thing involved when buying anything including a car. Good service and as @GSB says Rapport and Mutual Respect also come in to the equation, especially if you are likely to come back for more of the same.

I wonder what the price increase for the new model will be. Apart from adding £260 to the price for my particular model in October 2015 when they added the Navigation to the standard spec the last price increase was in October 2014. So I would assume there was a price increase due, facelift or no facelift.

Would think that for Pcp buyers there will not be much difference, as the gfv will go up as well . I will be having a look when the prices are out, I would not think it would go up too much , Audi need to stay competitive as well ..

I haggle for everything I buy
Same here, my wife says that she is sometimes embarrassed to go shopping with me :D We bought an oak mirror a few years back, I asked to see it out of the box to make sure it was OK and not broken, he took it out and the mirror was fine. I said leave it out of the box and we'll take it as it is, you can keep the rubbish! We put the mirror in the car and then went back inside to pay. As we sat down I said 'jokingly' "How much are you knocking off as it's an unboxed item?" (expecting him to look and smile) he didn't!!!! he got up and said "I'll ask the boss" :D The look the wife gave me was priceless. He came back a few minutes later and said "He can't knock much off as we are already cheaper than anywhere else, but he said £10" :D I didn't have the heart to say I was only messing....but I still took the £10 off ;)

Another good one: If you see a hotel/weekend break deal on laterooms or the likes, phone the hotel direct and say where you have seen it, most of the time they will match the price and upgrade the room for free, or throw in a bottle of wine with your dinner etc. The best I got was a luxury B&B the year before last in Whitby, phoned them directly and got it 20% cheaper.

Other than engine, what will be the fundamental differences between a Standard S3 and a S-Line A3 in the FL? I know we don't know standard spec etc but is an S3 and S-Line usually specced similarly or is an S3 usually a spruced up A3 SE? What are the usual differences, pros and cons?

I think announced the S3 will have matrix LED lights as standard?

Wheels, mirror caps, grill, diffuser, exhaust. You can pretty much spec everything else.

And the not so important bits , engine / suspension , all the bits make the complete S3 package ... Drive them back to back and you will know....

When the S3 is released - will the PCP deals have a high GFV as its just released in comparison to buying 6 months down the line e.g December?

He did say "other than engine", probably because that's obvious! "Not so important bits" like suspension fall into the same obvious category I think, and there is more to add. I'm just pulling your chain mate ;) Besides I I think he was getting at standard equipment/extras and general look of the car.

lol - yeah I know, I was kinda laughing at the question , as mirror caps etc are kinda irrelevant when buying an S3 in my eyes ..Powerful Engine / Decent Suspension (Up for debate I know ) and 4wd , the rest is glitter !

I was thinking more... would I need to pay extra for the lighting pack as with the SLine or would a Sat Nav be included or unlike the SLine would it be an optional extra.

Anyway it was a stupid question as I found a comparasion document ☺

If you are buying new then no one knows until the new specs come out as to what is going to be standard ? If you want the performance then an S3 is the way to go , if it is more looks and toys a well specced S-line would be spot on as they look the part and still shift with the right engine .

Press release basically tells you the standard specs. 7inch screen, cruise control, 3 spoke steering wheel, and xenons standard across the range. Satnav standard from SE Technik upwards. S-Line and S3 get standard LED headlights and LED rear lights, and interior lighting pack. I read somewhere that rear parking sensors are standard on S3/S-line but it's unconfirmed by my dealer.

Ah , didn't read that , reckon if I got an s3 on pcp I wouldn't need any extras then ...

Where did you read that the SLine and S3 will have the interior Light pack as standard?

The press release.

"The interior affords the top quality typical of Audi. Cruise control is now standard equipment on SE models, and the newly designed three-spoke steering wheel also fitted as standard to the entire range is available with heating as an optional extra. For more comfort on long journeys, Audi offers a driver seat with massage function in the new A3. Another highlight for S line models is the interior lighting package, now fitted as standard."

Granted, it doesn't say S3, but I would find it unlikely they'd not have it in the S3 too.

I'm kinda irked because I specced up nearly £2k of extras to get kit that is now standard. And even more irked by the fact that people probably will have received their facelift cars before my 'older' model is even built.

They will have to retool before making the facelift, so they cannot deliver them before your prefacelift , I have got a couple of carlow quotes through , I am assuming for facelifts , 8% off current list ?

You will only know what is included with each UK model when AUDI UK release their Price and Specification Guide. Until then it is all speculation.

At the moment all models except the basic SE get Sat/Nav as standard. ie SE Technik, Sport Navigation, S-Line Navigation and S3 Navigation. Whether this was just a 'run-out' thing for the pre-FL or whether Sat/Nav will be included as standard in UK models we will only know when the UK P+S Guide is released. This applies to everything in every model. Audi UK may also, as they have in the past, decide NOT to important all the model/engine/gearbox combination available in other markets. The UK market is very much a Company Car dominated market whereas that is not the case, for example, in Germany.

Do you have a link? I don't see this on the press release on Audi's Media Centre...

If I purchase a new facelift A3 my wife will want to drive in preference to her new Polo. Why!! Because it can have her ultimate option that is not yet available on the Polo. A heated steering wheel. Personally not too sure about the odd shaped steering wheel. I always thought the most important requirement for any 'wheel' was for it to be round :dizzy:

The flat bottom steering wheel makes you think you are driving a Lamborghini , that's its sole purpose .

I wouldn't be without it !

Just saw the news on the facelift yesterday and very pleased I opted for the A5 Sportback and not the S3 saloon.
I would expect the A3/S3 will now see some good discounts (not showing any yet), which I would of missed out on.
I would of been very disappointed placing an order only for pre-facelift discounts and a facelift being announced 5 weeks later.

When I mentioned a facelift at several dealers they all knew nothing !!!!!!!!

I know the A5 is changing and could handle that as I knew at the point of order placement. The £8100 discount makes up for that.
