Hello
I want to install tyres 255 8.5j all round (front and rear)
I do not like that the rear tyres are narrower than the front
255 front and 235 rear in Audi options
i want 255 front and 255 rear

What do you think, if I install 255 back to disk 8.5 - they rub? or strike sharply? touch?

Only one way to find out ha ha :)

You could stick the front on the rears and vice versa, go for a test drive and see if it rubs at all.

On the mk1 it's a no no so I can only guess the same outcome on the mk2 !

Its a definate no no on the MK1

I can only imagine it'll be the same with the MK2, the first bump you go over the tyre will hit the rear arch lip.

Thats assuming the wheel clears the inner strut.

Not only will it not work the 8.5j et53 (255 )alloys on the rear they are heavier than the 8j so make no sense tbh

Hello,

As I have not seen pictures of the OEM 255 8.5 wheels on the rears, today I tried.

there is less than 1cm between tire and shock protector.

regards

That's a no no then.

RS3 is wide upfront to dial out some understeer .

Do not alter these dynamics .

There's at least one or two mk2 rs3 came out the dealers with the wheels fitted the wrong way so the 255 fronts do fit the rear but they look all wrong they sit too far out in the rear arch. Plus as said there setup like that to counter understeer so, if you want a square setup why not go the 235 all round or get 245?

And this is how the OEM 235 8 wheel fits.

I just wanted to see the differences.

going 245 wide in a 8" wheel is the "max" for it.

if you stay with a 245/35 then the side wall of the tire will be 4mm higher.

regards

I've got 235 front and rear.. quite happy with that.
Not sure I would want 255 without bigger wheels too.

True but a stiffer rear ARB would have been and IS a much better solution doing a proper job sharpening up both front and back ends :superman:
