hey guys,

This is my first post on the forum! I'm a complete novice to all things Audi. I recently picked up a 2005 a4 avant 2.0tdi 140bhp and loving it.

I've done a few odd repairs to the car, all common things like brake sensor, wiper motors and fixing leaky rear washer hose, you name the common faults I've done it.

I decided to yesterday purchase some new wheels. Being a Ford man my entire life, usually, any wheel would fit so long as it was the right stud pattern.

I decided to pickup some 19' rotors like these...

As soon as I picked them up I had the sinking feeling that these might not fit due to being to wide. The current wheels are 215/55/16 et43. The new wheels are 255/35/19 et33. I've done a search on the forum and can see pictures of the same wheels on a b6/b7 however nothing to determine if i need smaller width tyres or spacers. Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm aware i'll need to get some spigot rings because of the centre bore size. Any tips and help would be really appreciated :)

Thanks
Sean

So I fitted them with 255/35/19. No rubbing or vibration at all. I had a new tyre fitted to the front as the other one wasn’t that bad. The tyres on the front don’t foul any arches or suspension at all. The hub bracket (think that’s what it’s called) and the upper control arm joints are very close. So close I can only just put my finger in between. I’m not sure if this is a problem. I’m going to try a few things.

Failing that maybe some 10 or 15mm wheel spacers. The wheels are already poking out a bit but they look good.

Ps it is stock suspension.

what rim width are they, I don't know how you guys get away with that size on the rears, must be some widly differing cambers going on, I run 235/35 19 8.5j on an ET35 and have about 3mm clearance on the wheel arch side.
How you get away with 255/35 I just don't know.

255/35/19 is a bit large for a B7 but I guess it would fit under stock suspension. Do you have a picture of them on? Curious to see how it looks.

Is yours an SE by some chance, if so the SE ride height is probably why you have no rubbing issues as such , s-line and lower would be much lower and probably have rub issues., nice alloys chap.
