car finally sorted sourced a coupling from ayr audi fitted myself in an hour now vibration and noise free thanks for your help...........

What was the initial problem? Symptom mate?

I had a bad vibration and loud noise when driving at speeds between 65 to 85 mph /2.2 revs to 2.8 turns out the rear prop damper on the quattro tdi have a design fault basically you have an outer steel ring with a rubber coupling inside bonded to the outer ,there is three moving segments to the rubber part which are about 1mm from the inside edge of the steel ring. The ring is not treated [bare metal] so it rust up inside stopping the rubber damper from moving and not acting as a damper......... iam going to treat with some waxoyl and check every 6 months or so....
