a few issues and problems after remap (and possibly before!)

defo runs at 90deg but i know the sensor has an implausible signal so after awhile it drops back to 60 and wont come up again till im parked or on idle, badger 5 im sorry im not clued up as you guys are as its your job to know what your doing, im not that technical and clued up with cars, its all a bit of learning process for me but i appreciate the help and i said it was jbs who did the map and it was fitted though kjm

Does sound like the sensor but TBH for the price of the parts change both for peace of mind. Faulty ones will make the car run rich and burn through fuel (and cash!) due to over enrichment.

Just to sum this post up :

The car is making less than standard bhp if you use the VAG-com figures but is making an increase of 36bhp after the map.

This would put you at 186bhp tuned if you were to make 150bhp which is the standard power.

The ECU was sent to Custom-Code (who occupy the same building as JBS) by one of the Custom-Code appointed dealers, as this is the case the fault codes cannot be read or removed on the bench flash hardware.

If the vehicle was physically in our possession then we would have carried out a full code check before and after the software to ensure no issues were present plus carried out logging of the vehicle.

By the looks of the issues it may well be a combination of things causing the loss of power as standard such as OE DV,MAF reading low, coolant temp sensor fault, PCV hose leak or alternate boost leak along with the mileage on the vehicle.

Have you been back to KJM to discuss the faults you have?

If needs be give me a call on 01246 455005 to discuss the matter further.

yep it was chipped and KJM sent the ecu away, all done through KJM Crediton, im not blaming anyone apart from myself so il get it sorted and thanks prawn il check that pipe later and let u know if its split

i told you it was chipped and sent away

This ECU was sent to us by one of our agents. We cannot check fault codes on the bench as the ECU will throw up a bunch of faults for not being plugged into the car.

We believe the agent did speak to the John over some concerns but ultimately it is the agent's job to say whether or not the vehicle is fit for mapping. We have spoken to the agent and they have apologised and offered to work with John to try and sort the problem. We also stand by our promise in that if a customer is unhappy with a map then we will flash the ECU back to standard and give a full refund.

Just to be clear, JBS had no involvement in this, we are based in the same building but all bench flashing is carried out by Custom-Code.

John, I have tried to ring you this afternoon but keep getting a person unavailable message. Please feel free to call me otherwise I will try again in the morning.

Thanks
Warren

Custom-Code

quick update, a friend had a 20vt and i used his n75 which is the same code as mine and also his 007p, just tried cause i was curious and made no difference at all so the hunt continues

ok i guess thats the next step then...did try a 007p tho and made no difference i actually relogged it and came up 167 bhp around 6k rev

Custom-Code

i was on the phone to kjm. they told me that they did a scan before they sent the ecu away and when it came back it it came up with 0 faults both time which is unbelievable as iv always had temp sensor problems since iv owned the car so i dont believe what they are telling me for a second, i think they are just trying to cover their own back but thats just my opinion, seems weird how iv only just got that temp sensor fault now that iv scanned it and it showed 0 when they did it twice, absolute rubbish!

humm... you have checked for vacuum/boost leaks etc? if you are not confident in doing this it maybe worthwhile taking the car to a specialist at this point and get her run up on a dyno

<tuffty/>

yea i have, to be fair it pulls aot stronger but got a max reading of 137.98 at 6640k which i think was the same as my last log?, il post results up, also the is a small few mm gap where the new maf housing bolts to the airbox, so i hope this doesnt effect anything, defo the right one for my car

was looking around just now for leaks and found this , have no idea what it is or if its apart of my problems? anyone shed any light?? all i can see is a blue leed that snapped that run along past alternator i think, just has a single pin on the connector as shown in photo 1

No... not really... not sure what blocks are best to log on AGU's... not done too many of them... Prawn may know and may be along at some point to advise...

Have you got a boost gauge fitted?

<tuffty/>

it feels like its pulling better with the new maf but power is the same as you can see from the log, boost gauge is on its way too me so il share info when its in

new temp sensor, fuel pressure sensor and maf fitted recently, not sure where to go next? also is the pcv pipe the one that comes off a T peice with a kind of plastic valve in that goes up into the inlet?

I would suggest getting the car to a specialist... you are gettin gto the point that you need to car checked over by someone that knows what to look for and has had experience of these cars... and thats not a dealer or a generic garage... someone used to dealing with VAGs...

Just popped my head in here. Faiplay tuffty, what a gent and Bill top blokes with great advice.

OP Hope you get it sorted.

silly thing is even tho iv replaced my temp sensor im still only getting a reading on idle and as soon as i start driving it drops back to 60.....why??

Specialist :) (may have mentioned it a few times lol)

Changed the thermostat?
